Laser welding for platinum in Los Angeles? Any recommendations?

I've spoken with a couple jewelers that say they can resize my ring but it would have to be sent to their laser welder (and one guy that offered to solder it - no thanks!). One particularly nice jeweler explained to me that I would be hard-pressed to find a jeweler that could weld in-house since those machines are expensive...but I figured it doesn't hurt to check with Pricescopers just in case. (And the reason I don't want to send it back to Leon Mege is because USPS registered takes forever and I don't trust UPS.)

Yosef Cut Rock Total Posts: 232 Last Post: 11/27/2008 Member Since: 11/14/2006	To be honest I don't know any local independent jewelers in this area that have a laser welder... we're all so blessed to be next to the jewelry district we don't generally invest in these expensive types of equipment. If you really want it done locally, I'll just point you in the right direction without naming names and you can pick who ever you want. Just go to 650 S. Hill St. in Downtown Los Angeles, that's the St. Vincent Jewelry Center. It is one of many jewelry plazas on the S. Hill Strip in the 6 blocks enclosed from 5th-7th street and Olive to Broadway which is basically the LA jewelry district. Ask around in there and I'm sure you'll get a dozen names of shops that will do it for you in house, some deal with the public and do repairs, others do not.
