I had a general question regarding the cut of diamonds.

There are some beautiful diamonds out there, I have been looking off and on over the past couple of months at alot of diamonds on the internet, mainly on pricescope.   I have been using the Holloway Cut Advisor to narrow down my searches.

More of a general question regarding buying a diamond, I know it may eventually come down to personal preference, are there any benefits from buying a diamond that gets a HCA quality of say 1.0 to say 1.6-1.8?     There can be a cost difference of up to 25-30% at times and I am struggling on whether it is worthwile to spend that 'extra' money for it.

I know how important cut is and I'm sure you can tell the difference but the rookie that I am, I struggle with this!

Please let me know what you think!

Thanks

Once the hca passes a diamond then its time to move on to other information.
Such as ideal-scope images, h&a images if its being sold as h&a and other information.

The HCA is used for rejection, not selection.  It can't determine whether a diamond which scores 1 is better than a diamond that scores 1.6 for example.  The aim when using the HCA is to find a diamond which scores 2 or below, then you evaluate it further with Idealscope, trusted vendor / appraiser input then lastly your own eyes.  Bascially score 2 or below = "pass"and worth further evaluation.  More info here - http://diamonds.pricescope.com/ideal.asp

Also in some instances diamonds which score over 2 which have top symmetry can still be worth consideration if you have other info available.

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Thanks for the information.

I emailed a few vendors on the ones that rated under 2.0, unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the IS image is normally available.  I have asked if they can get it done, and at what cost.   No one has responded back to me as of yet.

Thanks for the link, it was very helpful.
