It was either quite fine quality or you spent too much.

GIA doesn't say its hearts and arrows. It's only a comment, usually it says something is inscribed on the girdle.

Need more info to give you advice, what are the colours and clarities please and also are these for sale with a jeweller or online?

Hi Gizmo, did you buy from an online vendor, or from a jeweller please?  Generally prices from brick and mortar jewellers can be higher than online.  However you can see the price here for a .58 ct GIA graded top cut quality diamond of E VVS1 clarity, so it appears you paid more if the price was just for one stone, this is online price though.

Was what you paid just for the diamond, or was it for both diamonds?

i buy it from a local jewelry, i have never bought any diamond online before maybe next time i will be looking into that. But when you buy it online it is a loose diamond that means you still have to pay for the setting of the stone. to answer you it is only one stone that is $4100 and for both of them cost me $8200

Did the total price include the settings for both diamonds?

Hi,

I just purchased a .57 G eyeclean SI1 hearts & arrows ideal cut for $1600 and change, so I think you did overpay, but you also paid more for the VVS clarity and E color.  Have you compared stones in person and found that these are your preferences?  If returning the original stone is an option and you/she are not extremely color sensitive you could very comfortably drop to a G or beyond, and safely to a VS2 clarity w/o worrying about eye-cleanliness, and you'd be able to save some money or consider going up in size if you like.

As far as the setting, an online vendor can also set the stone in a setting from their own selection, or possibly obtained from another vendor, or in my case I bought my stone from one online vendor, my setting from another online merchant, and found a reputable local jeweler to set it for me, though this is not ideal, it worked out fine for me.

Hi,

It's AGS.  Are these earrings?  If those prices include the settings, it's hard to say if the price is fair w/o more info on the settings, and settings blur the lines of pricing a bit w/ depending on brand names, detailing, metal type, ctw of side stones, if any, and so forth.

Gizmo, you are furnishing far too little information in order to make an informed decision.

What are the settings made of (platinum or white gold) and do they contain accent diamonds, and what is the carat weight if so?

it has no accent diamond, and the setting is 18kt white gold and one diamond is 0.54ct(GIA#16462919) and the other is 0.53ct(GIA#16509049) if you want to gia out diamond on gia report it's there. so you think i paid($8200) too much for them and remember i didn't have to pay taxes on these either.
