I love how the style looks in the pictures, but. . . did anyone else have a hairspray problem? I think my lady used the whole can! My hair was really still to the touch - and it kind of felt uncomfortable on my head. How do I fix that? The front:

Your hair looks amazing!! Unfortunately some people need a whole can to make it stay put the entire wedding and reception. I would grovel for hair like yours!!

Beautiful, buttercup! What do you think of it? (you haven't said) Did you ask your stylist why she was using so much hairspray? Is your hair the kind that will hold on to curls? Because if it isn't, you'll probably just have to "deal" with the hairspray...and maybe you can go a little easier w/the spray in the front/around your face? I ended up wearing it straight because I did not want all the hairspray (well, that, and I don't love curls on me anyway).

Thanks miracles! I like your hair, too - did you say you were going to go blonde? Claudinam, I do love the look - I just found if a little bit uncomfortable - especially at the crown where it was sprayed AND teased. I have naturally curly hair (see my e pic below - all I did to it that day was let it dry on its own) so holding the curl shouldn't be a problem. . . I'm getting my highlights redone in a few weeks so I guess I'll ask about it then. It just felt a bit stiff. . .

buttercup, you're so naturally pretty. I HATED, HATED, HATED all the hairspray the stylist put on during my first hair trial. But I understood that's how it needed to be if I wanted anything other than straight hair - since my hair is pin straight. I don't understand why they sprayed you so much - your hair should be able to hold the curl just fine. Do you plan on using this stylist? Could you call her and ask her if she thinks she could go lighter on the spray? ETA - sorry, I missed the part where you said you'd be going back in for highlights. When I wore my hair straight they sprayed me to keep the flyaways in check, but my hair was soft, touchable, and shiny, which is what I wanted.

Actually, on the flip side to what has been said...curly hair does need hairspray because when you are removing the natural texture of the hair and replacing it with heat infused texture; moisture or humidity or movement (even!) can cause the hair to loose the infused texture very quickly. Wedding days are often very long, very hot regardless of the actual temp, just from dancing and moving and stress...so it's very important that what style you choose has the integrity to stay put all day no matter what. The less product you use, the faster your hair will fall. What feels like a lot of spray at 9am will be next to nothing come 9pm. As long as your hair isn't "sticky" or "whitish" you're okay. You want your curls to be crisp...because that translates to long lasting. On your wedding day, you'll have so many pictures taken of you...and you want the last picture to be as great as the first...you want to look pretty and put together and flawless all day long. So tell your stylist you like minimal product, you know it's recommended to have max product, and you'd happy to meet in the middle....and then be sure to hand off a travel spray to one of your bridesmaids for touch ups ____________________________ |

Well, even if it feels stiff, I have to say, it looks pretty natural and "loose" to me! It definitely doesn't look laquered or anything, so I think it's great if you can handle the feel of it!

You look so beautiful, as usual. I know how annoying the hairspray can be, but it doesn't appear to be stiff at all. Sadly you might have to deal with stiffness the day of in order to look the very best you can look. Talk to your stylist and see whether she can make it feel more comfortable by adjusting a few things.

Beautiful! That's similar to my hair style ![]() I told my stylist before the trial that I wanted her to use SPRAY WAX and just a little bit of hair spray. The wax holds really well but gives you a soft, bouncy feel. She used a bit of hairspray but nowhere near what she would have without the wax. I'd definitely recommend trying that.

You look gorgeous, buttercup! I have to say that I was thankful for all of the hairspray on my wedding day...it never would have help up in the humidity, and my hair is naturally frizzy, I mean, curly, too! I think your hair looked amazing!

I think your hair looks great. I doesn't looks stiff at all. When I did my trial, my hair was weather proof. I even slept on it to "test" it and it basically looked the same after I watered down the fly-aways. As much as I hate all that hairspray, I know that my hair will not budge no matter what.

I think it looks great! My hair is naturally curly, but once the veil was added and I started to sweat, my hair lost it's curl and also started to frizz, so I'm guessing hairspray can help with that. I agree that even if it felt stiff, you couldn't tell in the pictures, so if you can stand it, I'd say allow the can of hairspray.

claudinam - thank you so much! My hair is one of my few features that I really like, so when it's doesn't look/feel right, it throws me off a bit, you know? I will ask my stylist to be a little more moderate with her spraying, I think. . . italiahaircolor - That makes a lot of sense - I hadn't thought of it that way - it just seems odd to me that my curly hair wouldn't "hold a curl." I'm glad it doesn't *look* stiff - it certainly felt that way! Thanks TravelingGal, WishfulThinker, Harleigh, Sarah, gtn, and Sabine! *Feeling* stiff is almost okay, but *looking* stiff would be a deal breaker! oobiecoo, I will have to look into hair wax - I've never even heard of it - but my normal routine is to throw a bit of FrizzEase in and to air dry so I don't have a lot of hair products... My inspiration pic was this: ![]() I asked my stylist to make it a little bit curlier, instead of wavy, but I still wanted the loose, undone kind of feel - and I'm not quite sure I have it. . . I don't know if that's just because it felt stiff or because it LOOKS like a different "feel" - Also, it will look better when my highlights are redone and my hair is a bit shinier. I'm just not positive the front looks loose and curly enough. Maybe I should ask her to curl it all the way up? She kind of used the curling iron only to a few inches from my head so the pulled back section isn't curly - would that be possible? Would it look right? Help! I think I might be overthinking this - I just want it to be right and it's not quite there.

Tell your hairstylist you want looser curls, by either using a bigger barrel curling iron (maybe 1 1/2" or 2"). Or using large rollers, explain that the curls were too tight & corkscrew. (Though also keep in mind the curls will get "looser" and less tight as the day goes on, so you don't want them as loose as your ideal as you leave the salon).

I just realized my comment wasn't as helpful as it should have been =P In order to recreate the look in the picture, you'd want more VOLUME in the front (either through using a blow drier or large curlers) (but you don't want it necessarily to be curlier) and then have looser bigger curls in the back (by using a larger curling iron or rollers). Hope that helps.
