It'd be nice if this could be posted on another forum, say "Hangout," so we can get a more diverse voting group who normally do not read the "Around the World" stuff.

Why couldn't it be?  Polling Pricescope is not likely to give us a sense of how the country will vote, however.  First, we know we are here because we are interested in diamonds and second, we know that we are heavily concentrated on the two coasts.  (Remember that map where we could all put our locations?)

Um. I don't know where to put this, because it's very random, but BF found this and I watched the intro...and I found it kind of amusing. And disturbing...

Kung-Fu Election

Lets just say it's a spoof on the election with some hardcore Mortal Kombat twists. I just watched the intro, and thought it was interesting.

Richardson...is a sumo wrestler. Enough said.

Agree-- most of the votes coming from the largest states..popular vote totally irrelevant. The fact thats its this close on this site leads me to believe McCain is going to make this very close. Plus the demographic on PS isnt as diverse as the US with many women voting

While I'm sure Pricescope members skew towards being well-educated with higher than average income, I've also seen enough geographic and political diversity here that I think this will be somewhat representative of popular opinion nationwide. Which, of course, won't necessarily direct or predict the outcome of the actual election, as we've all seen before. I don't think that was Dancing Fire's objective in posting it, just curiosity as to the rough breakdown.

it keeps letting me vote multilpe times - I havent but i'm sure some have since its posisble.  So while interesting that it somewhat has the same result as the Gallup poll, there may be some errors.

Should there be an undecided button? People may be holding back from voting because they're on the fence

Actually, this is about as representitive as any national poll.  National polls only call land lines, so college students and lots of young people are never polled.  COnsidering Obama's hold on the youth and the techno savy, I would say the polls are giving the republicans a lot more hope than they should likely feel

Gallup calls cell phones.

But I hope this IS indicative of how the election will go because McCain is in the lead.

"It is also important for the State to inculcate in its subjects an aversion to any 'conspiracy theory of history' for a search for 'conspiracies' means a search for motives and an attribution of responsibility for historical misdeeds."

-Murray N. Rothbard, in The Anatomy of the State

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."
