I have been looking for and engagement ring. I would like to buy the set with the wedding band. It will be white gold with diamonds on the sides alternating with pink sapphires, two of each on each side for the engagement ring and how ever many on the band. My question is. I have been looking at a couple different cuts for the center stone and would like opinions on what would look better. I have been looking at round, oval, cushion or princess cuts. all some were between 1.50 and 2.00 carats. I would just like some opinions on which I should go with. I appreciate the help. |

Hello Anthony and welcome to Pricescope!! Beverly K makes some lovely colored stone rings. You will want to look at Pearlman's for some ideas http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/

It's all personal preference! If it were me, I think I would like round sidestones with a princess cut center, but I'm partial to princesses! If you don't know what her preferences are, a nice ideal cut round stone is always a safe choice. ETA: Here's an idea for starters. There are only 2 stones on each side, but it's a nice looking setting.

Do you have any idea which shape your future fiance likes best? The shapes you listed are all beautiful, but most people have a favorite out of the bunch. Kirk Kara makes several styles with sapphires which could be customized with pink sapphires if you so desire. Here is a link to one of my personal favorites: http://www.kirkkara.com/#section=gallery&productid=6852SA-R These stacking bands from OGI Ltd. are gorgeous and could probably be custom set with prongs to hold your diamond: http://www.ogi-ltd.com/collection_stones_02.php And here is one from BlueNile: http://www.bluenile.com/pink-sapphire-diamond-engagement-ring_5108?metal_filter=white&setting_filter=matching&sort_select=LTHP&show_all_pages=0&set_shape=

Welcome Anthony! Can you sneakily find out what shape diamond she likes best? It can be better to have some idea, so if there is a way you could find out on the sly, then that would help. Ditto Jstar, a top cut round is always a safe choice, with the others it is very much personal preference and different techniques may be needed to find a well cut fancy shape - rounds are more predictable by numbers. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Thats just it she doesn't have a pref. She has mentioned the Cushion cut. The only thing she has ever told me is this. I want it to be sparkly and unique"not something a million other people will have I don't care how much you spend or how big it is".

Ok, if she likes cushion cuts ( which can be incredible by the way!) I would suggest contacting Mark at www.engagementringsdirect.com , tell him your budget and what you are looking for, and let his expertise work for you. Mark is known as the cushion guy for good reason, he has a superb eye for a gorgeous cushion! ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Date: 8/25/2008 11:28:40 PM This setting is stunning! Love it.Author: NeverEndingUpgrade Do you have any idea which shape your future fiance likes best? Very unique, but with more of a round sparkle. They are like the best of both worlds for a square shape. They are pricier though. To give you an idea, this one runs 20,900.00. I went with a larger stone, because they face up smaller for their carat weight. http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/1255/ I think that would make a killer setting! Just a thought. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Ok so I think I am hooked on that kirk kara ring. That is almost exactly what I had pictured in my head, just pink instead of blue. Is cushion a good cut? How will it perform compared to a round or oval? THANKS Neverending!!!

Is cushion a good cut? How will it perform compared to a round or oval? THANKS Neverending!!! Rounds are usually considered to be the best performers, ovals are good also, but the main thing is the cut quality. That is why with cushions it is so important to have an expert be your eyes, unlike rounds you can't predict how a cushion will look or perform by numbers. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Date: 8/26/2008 11:45:27 AM You're welcome! I am drooling over the thought of that diamond that Ellen posted with that wedding set. OMG how stunning would that be?!? Author: anthony187 Ok so I think I am hooked on that kirk kara ring. That is almost exactly what I had pictured in my head, just pink instead of blue. Is cushion a good cut? How will it perform compared to a round or oval? THANKS Neverending!!! The good thing about that particular set is that it would look good with just about any shape of center diamond.I don't know what your budget is, but here is a nice cushion from GoodOldGold that is very nice! It would look great in that set because to me, the setting looks vintage, and cushions seem vintage to me too!!! http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4801/
