Does anyone know of any good venues in Erie, PA? We have been looking and we have been stumped for a while now...We are looking for preferrably 2 different sites for the ceremony and reception..We were going to have the ceremony outside and reception inside but since we might be getting married closer to winter instead of summer (we cant set a wedding date until January due to FI's schooling probs... so i would prolly have to go with an inside ceremony place. We really would rather not have it in a church, just someplace very modern and pretty. We would like the reception hall to be somewhat big (275ish guests) and with a raised ceiling and very modern. The ceremony site can really be whatever. i am not as picky about that.
We have thought of the Warner Theatre for the ceremony among A LOT of other sites for both, but this one was the only site that stuck out to us and that made us think wow, this would be awesome! Since it has been renovated and is really old.
So we pretty much want a cool, pretty, and unique place for the ceremony preferrably inside. And for the reception a big raised ceiling hall to get out groove on!
I was devastated once i found out that we would have to push our wedding date to november of next year but now as i think about it, it is good for now cuz if his schooling interfers then we will have to wait until like feb. of 2010. Which we wont know until January! Which sucks but what can you do. Which I was not really wanting a winter wedding...But i am marrying my love so i realized that it will be fine and romantic! But if you guys think of any ceremony sites outdoors feel free to list them also because as of now we are thinking of having it in November, which is still ok to maybe have outside. Hope you ladies can help me out!

What about the Peak? November you'd probably still catch some of the fall foliage up there, and it's not a bad drive from Erie...40 mins, max.

ETA: although not modern, they have the Retreat or the Main Lodge which would def satisfy your high ceilings requirement ;)

That is an option! I didnt even think about that one. I have a friend that works at the Peak too! I really still like the Warner though. I guess when it comes down to it, its harder for us to find a reception site because to me, i want it to feel big and glamorous because we are going with a sleek glamorous sparkly theme so I want it to feel like we are in NYC or such.... Our colors will creme tiffany's blue and black. my dress had Swarovski Cyrstals all over it too. Which is why for the Warner I am like...eh, it might be too traditional and fancy not sleek and modern...which might be fine...but. So I am guessing you are located in PA also? Just glad to hear that someone else knows the locale of the Erie area!

lol, yea - the Peak's not exactly sleek and glamorous - but, with the right decorations and lighting, maybe? I think as long as you don't go towards that rustic-lodge feel, you could make it work!

I'm actually in Ohio, but my parents own up at PNP, so I pretty much spent my high school wkends up there and Mill Creek Mall lol.

What about the art museum? That would be really pretty.
I go to school in Erie... I'll try to think of other places.

oHHH! The art museum would be perfect! nice and sleek and hott! lol, wow, there are more people that live in erie on here then I know! Do you know if they do weddings in the art museum? I am sure they do, but for a price. a hefty price? I hope not. That place is trumping over all now! Great idea! But for 250ish people? i guess it could work...keep the ideas coming! wow, i cant believe that i never thought of the art museum!

I have no idea if the art museum does weddings, but I'm sure a quick phone call could find out. And I would imagine it would be cheaper than the Warner, from what I understand it's pretty expensive.

So the Art Museum does do weddings. Quite a few as by the sound of it! B and I are going to go Friday to take a look and ask about prices etc. but for now this is sounding like a winner! lol. I heard that the warner was about $500 dollars to rent. I dont know if thats good or bad though. lol. So i cant wait to go to the Art Museum and check it out! YAY! I'll have to post back with what happens.
