So this isn't about politics (otherwise I would have posted in the around the world forum).  This is just about your ideology in general.

Would you classify yourself as liberal or conservative?

I'm liberal enough to annoy conservative and conservative enough to annoy liberals.  But if I would have to choose one label, I am definitely a conservative.

You?

I would proudly classify myself solidly as a conservative   I'm not trying to "stir the pot," but my Con Law professor recited this quote to us on the first day of class last semester "If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart, and if you're not a conservative at 40, you have no head." Winston Churchill.  Whatever someone's ideology, I think everyone can agree that ideals do change with age...not necessarily violently to the left or right or towards either side for that matter, but more perspective is gained with life experience.

ETA: I would like to add that I do share views that are often classified as more liberal (i.e. no death penalty), but I'd be kidding myself if I didn't fess up to being a conservative.

Me too guys.  I'm not in the middle.  There's not really a classification for me.

I am very fiscally conservative.  The older I get the more I skew Libertarian.  I'm seeing more and more rights taken away and it really bothers me.

I would say I go liberal on somethings, expecially social issues.  I believe people should live the way that makes them happy as long as they are not putting anyone in danger.  I find I tend to lean consertive on some other issues.  But I make my own opionions on everything and instead of conforming to the views of one party.

I'm a SUPER liberal with some weird conservative quirks thrown in, just for kicks...

And yes, I do have a cape.

ETA - I do really enjoy discussing issues with people from both views, so long as both parties are open minded and willing to actually discuss an issue. Although I'm quick to be offended by sweeping generalizations and judgments.

Liberal!

But I was raised by a Catholic Democrat divorce attorney, and a hardcore Catholic liberal.

Yeah, I've been exposed to some random views...

I'm like you Tgal with the exception that politics are so confusing that I rarely understand an issue to it's fullest.

Right in between. Depends on the issue... But I think people would describe me as more liberal in general.

Moderate leaning toward conservative, but I seem to surround myself by people who consider themselves very liberal. Always makes for interesting conversations!

Well, according to this quiz I am 85% conservative and 15% liberal. I tend to agree. I'm a huge believer in personal responsibility, which I think accounts for most of my social views.

I don't like being classified; particularly by the 'media machine'.  I've voted both sides of the fence.

I don't understand 'way left' or 'way right'.   There's always a gray area; everyone has one.

I'm pretty sure it won't come as a surprise that my values and political viewpoint are of a more conservative bent.

My only real pet peeve is a person who always votes straight party; you're just letting someon tell you who to vote for.  Give it some thought, or don't vote.

LOL I love quizzes.  These were my results.  As I said, I'm more liberal but conservative in some topics.  I think I'm more conservative when it comes to businesses.  I am shamefully a corporate advocate

Overall: 30% Conservative, 70% Liberal
Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

And I agree with Holly.  I tend to vote based on which side speaks more to me than which side I'm "assigned" to.

I generally classify myself as very liberal, but there are definitely issues I swing conservatively on. I'm registered as independent simply because I feel like the party system oversimplifies the issues, and vote for people whose platforms I support instead of following party lines.

That said, I love discussions with people from all sides of the spectrum. I often find I agree with things that surprise me when they're presented intelligently and thoughtfully. Politics can make for a very interesting discussion when handled well.

I always feel like I'm weird because I think I'm VERY liberal in my views, yet VERY conservative in the way I live my life and the choices I make for myself. I guess I just don't feel like everyone should be forced to do things the same way I do.

Sabine, I'm the same way! There are things I'm a huge advocate politically of that I would not chose for myself.
