First, FYI, what I've been looking for is a RB that looks about like a 1 carat, looks pretty much colorless, performs very well cut-wise, is eyeclean, and won't cost too much much over $3000. That said, here is my potential winner: GIA Certified Carat: 0.90 Color: I Clarity: SI1 (reportedly eye-clean... PS vendor will double-check this) Cut: GIA Excellent Pol/Sym: EX/EX Flourescence: Faint HCA score: 1.9 (e.v.v.v) AGA score: 1A Avg. Diameter: 6.21 mm For $2995, is this a great deal or simply average? Any thoughts? Also, I asked the vendor (a reputable PS vendor) if they could provide IdealScope, Sarin report, etc. They said they could, but that since they would need to have the diamond shipped in from another vendor, I'd need to be serious enough about this stone that I'd to be willing to pay the $50 to cover shipping costs between the vendors if I later backed out for no good reason (a "good reason" being if, for example, the stone turned out not to be eye-clean as reported). But if everything checked out as stated and I still decided to back out, I'd be charged the $50. Is this normal business practice? Any thoughts on this? Thanks! I'm starting to get excited now that I'm actually on the verge of buying (which means I'm that much nearer to proposing!).

Here are more detailed specs: Table: 57% Depth: 61.4% Pavilion Depth: 43.0% Crown angle: 34.5 Pavilion Angle: 41.0 Measurements: 6.20-6.22 x 3.81mm Girdle: Thin-Medium (faceted) The GIA report doesn't show the actual plot of inclusions (why is it that some GIA reports include this and some seem not to?), but the inclusions listed are: Crystal, Cloud, Needle Hopefully the faint fluorescence isn't a problem. It doesn't specify what color it is. Is there any way that I can tell how the fluorescence might affect the performance without seeing the diamond in person? can any of the tools like IdealScope, etc., help?

It looks promising, ask the vendor if they could send you an Idealscope image of the diamond, just to confirm the numbers. If the report was scanned, sometimes the details on the plotting diagram don't transmit that well. Faint fluorescence won't be a problem - no worries at all! Very rarely strong or very strong blue can make a diamond look cloudy in some lights, but this is unusual - and nothing to worry about in your case with faint!
