My Mom passed away suddenly last October and I now have her engagement diamond.  After much thought, I've decided to have it mounted in a simple white gold pendant setting so I can wear it alone or with other pendants.  Here is the sapphire pendant that I'm basing the setting on.

That's so special and beautiful Lori! I'm in the process of having a sapphire pendant just like that made! You'll get so much enjoyment out of your pendant.

Lori, I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom.

But I think what you're doing with her engagement diamond is a wonderful thing!  What a lovely tribute to her, and I'm sure you'll get much enjoyment out of your beautiful new pendant!  Please post a pic of the finished product whenever you can!

Thank you SO much!  I agonized over this for the longest time and wanted to have something that would be simple and respectful of Mom's diamond.  It is on the smaller side.....around .40 or so.  I don't know the stats, but it was purchased in 1959 and it is gorgeous with lots of sparkle and no visible inclusions.

Last year was really rough.  We lost our Dad in April and Mom in October.

I am sorry for your loss.  I think it's a nice idea, a way to wear her diamond close to your heart.

Lori I think that's a beautiful idea. Have you looked at Whiteflash's pendants? They have a couple of them that would be complimentary for your Mom's stone. I think its a beautiful was to memorialize it.

Thank you for your kind words....it has been a tough year, but I'm looking forward to having this pendant made.

SDL, thank you for the WF pendant links!  I didn't even think of them and they are here in Houston, right?  I'll see about them.

After all of this going back and forth, I've finally decided to have Mom's diamond set into a Van Craeynest ring....details are in the SMTR...Show Me Some Van Craeynest thread.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement with this project.....I was driving myself nuts with this!

Hope you like the ring I've chosen...I love it!
