Hello, I am new to this forum but have to say I have found it to be amazing in all the knowledge and information I have gathered from in in such a short amount of time. My question is as follows; I have painstakingly been trying to find the best way to make a ring to fit in my budget. I have long settled on the cut of stone, and am very lose to purchasing the stone and having it made. I am interested in having a setting made that I saw on leon Mege's website that is the simple 3 stone classic setting. I have heard that EDR works with him on projects and plan to purchase a stone I saw through them most likely and since I have also heard not everyone is able to work smoothly with Leon if I discuss the setting with EDR and explain my thoughts are they going to actually have LM make the ring? Additionally, could I save a a bit doing it this way - not to mention having it taken care of all in one place? I also heard that EDR makes rings for Neimans, is this also true? Obviuosly I can just ask them these questions myself however, I'd like feedback from unbiased opinions. Thanks! |

Hey, I bought my ring (and stone)from ERD, and I don't think Mark and Leon work together. Mark built my ring, that we designed from a few different "designers", beautifully!![]()

Leon doesn't actually work for ERD; he is located across the street from them. What some members do is purchase a loose stone from Mark at ERD and have Mark take the stone across the street to Leon to work on the setting. If you want a Leon setting, you're gonna have to work with Leon. I personally didn't want to have to deal with Leon and his supposed attitudes and chose to purchase my stone at ERD and also have them do a custom setting. It's probably gonna be cheaper to have the setting done at ERD. My understanding is that the biggest difference is that at ERD they cast your ring from a mold they make and Leon does all the work by hand. (Correct me if I'm wrong ladies!) Here's some pics of my ERD ring if you're curious... Hope this helps!http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=89892

if budget allows, i'd buy a stone from Mark and then have Leon do the setting.

ERD and Mark have done some lovely custom settings that were posted here on PS but are more often lauded for their eye for stones. Leon is a ringmaker as his primary business and he is exceptional at certain kinds of settings. If you like his work and his eye for detail, he is the way to go. For both, the best indication of whether or not they the right match for you is if you like their previous work and are comfortable with their business manners and pricing. Good luck!
