Hi all:

This is my first post, but I have really, really enjoyed the posts on here.  So far you have saved me from a LEO and a Peerless, both of which I was almost persuaded into buying.  I have made the Kay mistake once in my life, which I am stuck with a $5K ring, that I refuse to double up as an upgrade there.

Now....I am ready to propose to my girlfriend and I really want to buy a nice ring, but I want to stay within reason, because there's a wedding/honeymoon and other things to pay for.  She really likes the princess shape, but she really doesn't know a lot about jewelry.  Now that I think about it, that may be to my advantage.     However, I have been through the whole finding a ring thing before, and have somewhat come to appreciate a nice ring, and I want to make sure that she has something that I can be proud of, even if she doesn't know better.  I have followed may of the PSer's suggestions and gone to GoG and found the following stone, that I am considering purchasing.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4660/

Please take a look and let me know what you think.  Initially, I was looking for a higher grade in color, but this one rates so well, is a great size and fits really nicely in the budget, but I want a second, third...50th opinion to avert any more tragic mistakes.

I want to have it set in  one of these D Vatche settings:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/setting/V-115/
http://www.goodoldgold.com/setting/V-140/

Please let me know what you think, I'll take any and all.

Thanks,
SH

Looks like a very pretty Princess!!  Welcome to Pricescope

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Oh it's just lovely! I'd go with the royal X-prong over the regular X-prong. The taper toward the head on the royal will set off the princess more. Lovely choices. I'd reserve that princess!

Wow, looks like a beautiful princess! I'm not a fan of this cut usually, but this one looks really special,  it should be very pretty in person.
I second Gypsy's advice, I like the royal x prong better.

I bet. And don't worry, I think you've still got a chance.

Congrats!

That IS lovely on her hand

Have you thought of resetting the old Kay diamond in a pendant for her?

Funny you should suggest that purrfectpear, in fact I have.  I recently took the ring to Kay to have it polished and have the rhodium plating redone on it......who knew it would change colors just by sitting in a box for years.....well, long story short.....I got it back on Friday and showed it to my FI and she loves it too.......go figure.....eventually, I'll have it set into a pendant.....but I think she's enjoying wearing it on her right hand..

Thanks stonehunter. I'll pass the kudo's along to the ladies.  Awesome, awesome ring and I love the balance between the center stone and the setting.  Thank you for allowing us to serve.
