Hey guys, After much deliberation, blablabla... I think I found a setting. I'm hunting for a setting first, stone later. Big reason is she originally wanted princess cut... which turned to emerald cut... which seemed to turn to radiant cut.... basically I believe she wants a stone with 90 degree angles in it. Anyway... lol :) This is the setting... she loved at the local jewelers. http://jewelry-shopping.padisgems.com/images/products/display/730-00397.jpg The nicest thing about the ring is the slope of the ring followed the tapered baguettes... giving the ring a bit more weight. Also,I like that they're channel set instead of bar set. This setting is a Jeff Cooper? Was quoted $2500 for the setting alone. I am only interested in a setting like it, without the other square sidestones... There's been an awesome guy Chris at Whiteflash trying to help me figure out what he can find... Was just trying to use some more resources??? Anyone have any ideas? |

Second one I found.... Please note, not looking at cut here, just setting. I like how clean this look is. It's a bit different than the Jeff Cooper one... but do you think I would be able to find just the setting? http://www.princecut.com/images/4.jpg or again, anything similar? I think I'm headed towards an emerald cut, or princess cut diamond center stone.

Yeah, I think you'll be able to find those settings with little problem. They don't look too extravagant, but they look really good! With the second one, I'd make sure that it can be modified to a square stone instead of an emerald cut. The first one also would need to be modified to fit a princess or cushion or radiant, or whatever cut you choose. You might be able to stick with WF and go the custom route. They both look great though and I don't think you can go wrong! Keep us posted.

I still haven't found *Anything* like this setting. I also emailed both the distributors in Canada & U.S. for that Prince Cut setting; & the guy in Canada said he could custom make the ring? ![]() They seem to carry the prince cut diamonds, but don't have the setting? She *loved* the setting.. WHY is this? Anyone encountered anything like this before? People not wanting to sell a particular setting, but instead just want to custom make it? I got a price quote from whiteflash, but if I can just buy it outright, I think it'd be easier and probably more cost efficient...

That second setting is a fairly common design. Google "Harry Winston Reproduction" or three stone baguette and you will find very similar settings to the Prince setting. Not as pronounced and graphic, so if that is what you like about it, you will have to go custom. WF's Baguette Three Stone didn't work for you?

Shameless, I just purchased an Elma Gil setting that looks nearly identical to your first post, it's beautiful, you should check it out. They have a pic of it on their website, but it doesn't really do it justice. However, if you're not interested in the square sidestones I don't know if it's right for you. Anyway, the details: if you go to elmagil.com and use the dropdown menu in the upper right, select IR-78 and you'll get a pic. It has tapered baguettes on the sides, with a princess cut diamond at the end of the baguettes. 42 points on the baguettes, 42 points on the princess diamonds. I was told the setting retailed for $5100 which certainly ain't cheap, but the jeweler I ordered it through quoted me $3100 for 18K white gold, probly even less with 14K. Using their website you can find a local jeweler that sells Elma Gil, they may have it in stock, or could at least show you a better picture. Check it out, good luck finding the right ring for her!

I guess what I liked about Prince Cut's setting is that the bar at the ends of the baguettes were much more delicate than I see in whiteflash's and a lot of others... that & it seems there's very minimal space between the side baguettes & the main diamond. Hmm... looking... harry winston..... :P

In general, since it's custom you can specify all of this. You can also get CADS and wax images of the setting and tweak the design from there.
