Hi All,
I'm at work but wanted to get an opinion or two & knew this was the place for it. My question is in regards to my fiance's band. He originally wanted it to be 2.5mm depth with a 6mm width. Can you tell me your thoughts on the 2.5mm depth. Do you think its **too** thick? His ring size is 14. Scorpion, I forget now what your ring depth was but I recall everything about your ring was big. For the men here that wear rings, would you go with 2.5mm or would 2.0 mm be thick enough? The band will be Platinum.

Thanks all, I need some opinions by end of the day if you can please.

Judy

I'm not a guy, but I just measured my ring and it's 2mm thick all the way around, which is quite substantial and bulky when you look at it from the side. When the ring is perfectly straight on my finger, it *does* displace my pinkie and, to a lesser extent, my middle finger. My right hand ring is much less thick on the sides and bottom.

Oh my god. I agonized over this very decision last year. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that obsesses over these seemingly small details...

I think it's really a matter of personal taste. 2.5 mm is very thick and bulky, but considering he's got a size 14 finger, that may look just fine on him.

My husband is a size 9. His 2.00 mm thick band looks perfect on him, and I know he wouldn't want it any thicker. He thinks my 2.25 mm band is too thick but I love it.

Thanks guys for responding. I'm glad too there are others that get obsessed as well with tiny details. haha
Thanks Brad for those pics. They were helpful putting into perspective the different depths. I think though that the 2.5mm is thick, may be too thick for a raised hammered centre. We may have to consider a flat centre like the pic you put up. I'm sure my fiance can carry off the 2.5mm thickness fine since he's got a bit of spacing (naturally) between his fingers. I tried on a 2.5mm thickness when I was looking for my rings & my pinky & finger were pushed right out so it wasnt good for me. Mine's 2mm at the thickest point.

My next question is this, if given the choice, would you:

1. Have a 95 Plat & 5 % Ruthenium ring
OR
2. Have a 90 Plat & 10 Irridium ring.

In all I've read these 2 mixes are close in durability & the Vickers harness scale. Anyone have an oppinion, thought, or idea??

I want to make this decision tonight & tell Greg tomorrow to go ahead & start the ring.

Thanks all,
Judy

**who's still at work NOT ignoring her patient. hahaha Really! I'm not. He's sedated & asleep.

I don't think there's much diff. btwn. the 2 plat. choices. Just pick one or pick the cheaper one.

Do you have a choice in platinum? If it's a stock ring you don't, but if you do I'd go with the somewhat harder 90/10 Irid. If there's no fine engraving it probably won't matter much, but that's what I initially had my heart set on for my DH's ring.
