I wanted to post about my recent experience with Ritani, because it's my understanding the company has a solid reputation...but I can't understand why, based on my experiences with them. I recently got engaged--my fiance gave me a gorgeous ritani engagement ring. The ring has tiny pave diamonds along the entire band and one diamond was already missing. (and he had given me the ring as soon as it came in from Ritani). We took the ring back a few days later to the retailer to get the diamond replaced, and guess what...another was missing! The retailer said this was unacceptable and they ordered another from Ritani. They said special attention would be paid, even having the president of Ritani looking it over after it was manufactured. Riiiight.... So we got the new ring back yesterday. Looks great, no diamonds falling out! Then...I notice, one of the half moons looks different from the other, looks darker, almost as though it has fewer facets. We take it back to the retailer. Apparently Ritani put in 2 different half moons. One has a bowtie in the diamond, the other doesn't. This is clearly visible to me-and trust me, I am no diamond expert. And the president looked this over? The retailer wants to make this right as soon as possible, and is very embarrassed about the situation. I am almost fearful to get another new one because we are thinking "what will they do wrong next?". http://ritani.com/products/view/535/in_collection/4 |

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, but I assure you that Ritani rings are usually very high quality and the pave usually stays put! Sounds like your ring was just a lemon...which happens, but they need to make it RIGHT for you. Which it sounds like you are having difficulty with. Just a question for you...are you dealing with a shop you trust on this? Is it possible that they resized it instead of ordering a totally new ring for you and thus why the diamonds are having issues...it's a longshot, but resizing a lot does compromise the integrity of pave settings. Many jewelers have been known to set stones in Ritani settings themselves instead of sending it off...and not with great results usually. As for the half moons, they can be hard to match, so while it isn't an excuse (they should obviously make sure they match for such a high end piece!) it isn't as easy as you would think to find ones that match perfectly...can I ask why they replaced the half moon in the first place? Or did they just send you a whole new setting? I really hope they fix this for you!

Thanks neatfreak :) I am dealing with a reputable, trusted retailer in my area, it seems the real issue is on Ritani's end. The store did order an entirely new setting (I wore the original one while it was being made, and they switched the center stone as soon as the new setting arrived). The store told me they wanted the ring to be perfect when it arrived because if they touch it in any way, the warantee from Ritani is void.

I have heard that the stones on the band can become loose once you resize the ring post-purchase. If you jeweler resized the ring after your fiance got it, or if Ritani resized one that was already made then that may have jeopordize the integrity of the ring.
