DH's Concord slowed down and finally stopped working. It is 3+ years old. How often do watches need to be serviced? I was under the impression that it was every 5 years or so. Also, how much should battery replacement cost? I got a quote for $65. It's in a pricey area so I didn't know if it was reasonable. TIA!

I really like Concord watches. The battery life in watches arnt guarenteed and 3-5 years is about right.$65.00 is high for a battery change alone...even if its a 50meter or above water resistant watch(watches that you can get completely wet..,swim ,shower ect)and must be water tested. Are they quoting for other work also?In my area...a battery change with a water test costs about $25-$30 at a watch repair shop...most jewelry stores send out their watch repairs and then double or even triple the cost from the watch repair man.Are you in a large city?

Thanks for your input Jewelerman! You are always so helpful! The $65 quote was for a battery change and water test alone. No other servicing. I called another shop and they quoted $30 - $50 depending on the battery. That sounded a bit more reasonable. Neither place would be sending the watch out. I'm in Orange County, CA. Haha - a friend suggested that my location was perhaps the reason for the inflated charges.

I had my TAG serviced by TAG and it was $85.00. TAG told me if they did not do it or sent it to a TAG certified jeweler the waranty was void...They cleaned it change out the battery and everything well worth it...the nicer the watch the pricier the battery. :)
