He Everyone! I am a long-time "lurker" and finally decided to take the plunge and sign up. I am getting married in October this year and was curious if any of you have some interesting suggestions of unique bridesmaids gifts. I've spent some time looking at all of the sites online but none of the typical gifts really interest me (ie flask with initials, jewelry bag, tote, etc) I did purchase their jewelry but it wasn't much money so want to do something else. I was thinking of doing facials but think we might bump into some issues with time.... Anyone out there have some truly unique/sentimental or just great gift ideas???? Thank You! I bought my girls' shoes, a matching purse (to wear with the shoes after the wedding) a second line umbrella (this is a mardi gras dance that you dance to mardi gras music and dance with a decorated umbrella! - we're doing this kind of dance at the reception), I'm also buying them manis and pedis and their make-up applications the day of the wedding.... I know I don't have much uniqueness there - but i DO know that girls appreciate a bride paying for their beauty costs the day of...

Hi and welcome! I am purchasing pearl necklaces for my bridesmaids, as well as their day-of hair and makeup, and a nice lunch the day before. I was thinking of getting them engraved mint julep cups as an additional gift (this is a Kentucky wedding), but I also saw Philosophy's The Wedding Party gift set and thought that could be a cute and fun gift. Handbags always fit! |

I got my wonderful ladies the large Heart Tag Key Ring from T&Co. I got them engraved too, and I just feel like its something they will use (everyone has keys!) and its a little more special, plus the packaging is just fabulous!

I asked my bridesmaids to be in the wedding by having flowers delivered to them that matched a "please be my bridesmaid" card i had found and written out to each of them (sent the cards to the florists who then delivered with the flowers). I think everyone really liked it! You could use something similiar as a thank you gift if you aren't super into giving them something "material". Everyone likes getting flowers!

I got my b-maids a monogrammed handkerchief with colors matching the wedding colors from http://www.monogrammarket.com/ I also bought them each a ring they can wear in the wedding and that's also super cool for 'going out' wear by Kenneth Jay Lane: http://www.shopbop.com/pink-flower-ring-kenneth-jay/vp/v=1/845524441817693.htm?folderID=2534374302062689&fm=browse-category I got myself the purple one version. ![]() I'm probably buying them a purse from either Etsy or Nelle Handbags, and I'm already paying for their hair/makeup/mani/pedis.

I bought my three bridal party members coach wristlets when I asked them to be my bridesmaids. http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=10562&category_id=240 I got the solid black, the turquoise trim, and the pink graphic one. They LOVED them. Oh and I also bought myself one in green trim. We must match right?

ILTW- people usually give their WP gifts at the rehearsal dinner. sometimes people give gifts when they ask them to be in the wedding, but no everyone and they are usually a lot smaller. I'm making my bridesmaids tote/shoulder bags in fabrics and colors that suit their individual styles. i'm freestyling them, but if you don't sew you could get an easy pattern to follow. you should also check out Etsy(.com). there are so many wonderful things on there that would make great gifts. and don't think that you have to give each girl the same thing...a necklace for one and a book for the other is totally great. if nothing else, it gives you more flexibility and takes pressure off you having to find the one gift everyone would like and appreciate all while being personal. |

usually the gifts are given at the rehearsal dinner, but my bridesmaids and I have been best friends since kindergarten so I will admit I got a little excited. I couldn't wait to ask them and I felt the need for presents! Tehee

Wow - you girls all have such great ideas and it seems like you've all thought this out so much!!! I'd like to go with all of your suggestions at once!! What do you think the average price to spend on each bridesmaid is....$100?

I guess it would depend on how many you are having. Im having 6 so my budget has to be 50bucks each. If I had less I would spend more.

I know I've said this before in other BM gift threads on PS, but I think I am going to give my bridesmaids really nice picnic baskets- one with wine glasses, real plates, and cutlery inside. I mean, who doesn't love a picnic?! I tried to attach a photo, but I'm having trouble today for some reason. But, you can find companies that sell them by doing a google search- picnicbaskets.com is one that comes up. I'll try to find an old thread where I posted a photo of one... ETA: Here's a thread in which I posted a basket pic- http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=67996

Blissful--We're giving our bridal party the 2GB iPod shuffles, too! We aren't engraving them, though, because we're not sure if they'll like the colors we chose so we want them to be able to return them. We're also paying for all my bridesmaids to have their hair and makeup done, and we're giving everyone gift certificates to the iTunes store so they can start loading them up. We're giving my MOH the wii Rock Star game because she's been wanting it for a while, and the Best Man an 80 GB iPod. Okay, so they're not unique but we're HUGE Apple fans and our whole crew loves music. And they're all into fitness, so they can use their shuffles when they work out. Hmmm, maybe I should buy myself a shuffle while I'm at it . . . ********************************************************** |

DO you have a price point? I wanted to get my girls complete sets of the Sex and the City DVDs, but that would have run me more than $600 at the time, and I couldn't do it. I ended up with gorgeous 4 strand or 3 strand button pearl bracelets (my MOH picked out her favorite designs at our local jeweler, and I narrowed it down from there). I also got them a fancy candle that all of us just happen to love, wine glasses with their names engraved on them, and I wrapped it up in these polka dot cooler totes that I found for $4 on sale at a local shop. The bracelets were the main things though. I personally gave my presents at a little slumber party we had 2 nights before the wedding. I didn't want to do it at the rehearsal. ETA: I meant to also suggest this. I did have an idea of making a little memory book for each of my BMs of us together, but I didn't think of it until too late to have the time to get it together. That might be a very sentimental idea. "The absence of flaw in beauty is itself a flaw." |

Hmmm, maybe I should buy myself a shuffle while I'm at it . . . I had seriously considered doing the ipod thing too but the initial sticker price was a deterrent. But after seeing all the stuff I personally have already bought it may not have been too far of a stretch... although we have so many gadgety friends they all mostly have them anyways. Also I was thinking $50 a person in the wedding party was fine since we were on a stricter budget then we originally anticipated. Looks like we're going to come closer to $100 a person for the guys, and my man of honor since I got him cufflinks additionally, and for the girls it will be closer to $200, (if I tell my FI that he'll blow a gasket hehe). I really want them to have these cute purses but I think I'm starting to overdo it here....
