Hello!

I've been reading these excellent forums for a while now and am finally in the position to seriously start looking for an engagement ring for my lovely GF. However, the more I read, the more baffling it all becomes! Basically I'm asking for some help in choosing the nicest looking diamond I can get (in my price-range of course!)

I have looked at WF ACA Princess and there are 2 that have caught my eye: the .791 ct sand .755 ct.

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Compare_Diamonds.aspx?idnos=183719,284241,114374,912080,912088#

They both look gorgeous and was wondering about the I colour of the .791 ct ring. I want the ring set in platinum, but I don't want it to appear yellowy when viewed. Is I too low down the colour or would I be better with a G, or is there a negligable difference between the 2? To the untrained eye, how noticable is this difference in colour? As i said I want it to sparkle beautifully, which is why I have gone for ACA Princess.

Any opinons greatly apprecaited.

Thanks

Welcome!

You are definitely on the right track with these!  What I would do, is to contact WF and ask for an expert to talk you through your two favourites, that way you can decide which one might be the best choice.  Also they will be able to advise you on the colour, and maybe suggest another diamond that might be suitable, maybe an H might be a good middleground.

Wow! Thanks very much for the quick reply!

Yeah I have mailed WF asking their opinion, so will wait and see what they say.

Just thought in the meantime, I'd ask the opinions of the PS contributors, becasue you all certainly seem to know your stuff!

LOL!  We are mainly consumers with a diamond passion, but we try to be helpful!  One thing though, you are certainly in expert hands with WF and they will be able to tell you which is the pick of the bunch out of those diamonds!  The .70 G VS diamond also looks very nice.

This is a difficult question to answer because it is so subjective.  While a well cut fancy stone will appear whiter than a not so good one, in this case, both are well cut.  It is now more of your personal tolerance level which no one except you can decide when you see the stone in person.  For those who are colour sensitive, they will be able to pick apart the G and the I stone.  I would not go as far as to call the I stone yellow but it might show a hint of warmth from the side.  Still, I doubt it'll be an issue in a platinum setting.
