This is sort of silly, but I feel like a total slacker! Even though I know it's really NOT a lot, since I bought my dress/began wedding planning, I have gained 5 pounds or so... I am pretty small, 5'3", small frame, so it's practically a pant/dress size. Now with weeks before my wedding I would ideally like to be working out everyday, but it's just not happening!! It seems like everyday something else pops up that *needs* to get done and there goes my gym time... Anyway, I just wanted to start a thread to find out if there are any other ladies out there who are stress weight-gainers!! I feel like everyone always says that they seem to lose weight when stressed/before their wedding/etc and I am SO the opposite!! ![]() |

hahaha well you just caught me as i finished the last bite of the giant cupcake i just ate, after deciding to avoid the gym because i had a crappy monday and tuesday. i absolutely know the gym will help more than that cupcake, but i just couldn't make myself go!! my wedding is still 2 months away so i have a little time to burn it off, but i just wanted to say that i feel you on not making it to the gym. just make the time, and delegate those little things that MUST get done to someone else if you can!

I usually am a non eater during times of stress but somehow around my wedding I was a stress EATER. Not pretty. I did fine, and got it off for the most part, but oy, it was scary for a while.

Right there with you...I just inhaled a whole bag of Goldfish crackers, and I splurged and had Little Caesar's Crazy Bread for lunch today. I have a little stress about the wedding and some things going wrong with that and costing more than I budgeted for, but I am totally wigging out about trying to move to FI's on Thursday! My house is not packed up and ready to go, so instead I sat down and started shoveling food in my face...I am a bad girl! ![]() I feel your pain...with 35 days left to go, I am just trying to go with the flow and not insert every single piece of food I see these days! I feel like everyone always says that they seem to lose weight when stressed/before their wedding/etc and I am SO the opposite!! ![]() i had the same prob about 4 weeks before my wedding. i too only needed to lose a little and am pretty petite -- under 5 feet. what i did was drink more water and cut my meal portions but i didn't starve myself! i spent a week tracking where my calories were coming from and tried to minimize the foods that were big calorie contributors. i just tried to be more concious of portions and of drinking beverages that have calories in them. i also tried to eat more salads and watched the salad dressings that i was adding. i exercised maybe once. i felt that at only 4 weeks to go i didn't want to change my schedule too much so close to the wedding (i was afraid i'd get too tired or sore and i had too much stuff to do that i didn't want to jeopardize being able to get these things done). plus i was kind of worried about possibly bulking up in areas that i hadn't wanted to and then causing other unforeseen problems. i think if you watch what you are eating and cut your portions down then that should help.

Here's my advice: get up 45 minutes earlier and go to bed a little earlier. Go to the gym FIRST thing in the morning. Cut out alcohol and treats (except small ones, maybe every other day) and go hog wild on vegetables, low fat proteins, whole grains, and big, filling delicious glasses of fat-free milk. Then take a brisk walk with FI in the evening. I'm short like you (shorter actually), so I know 5 pounds can really show! But you can easily lose a pound a week if you are active every day and really focus on healthy eating.

I've got 38 days left and my plan is to wake up 30 minutes earlier and do my workouts in the morning! Of course the first morning that I planned on doing this, I woke up with back pain. Figures. As soon as it subsides, I'm moving forward with it and I will keep swimming laps at lunch. I went out to dinner with girlfriends last night and ended up having a little too much red wine and a couple slices of pizza. I am the same as diamondfan. I don't eat when I'm stressed, but with the wedding...it's been a different kind of stress, so I'm all about the comfort food.
