I know as ladies there has to be SOMEONE here that knows what I'm talking about I think maybe I am retaining water or something (it happened very suddenly yesterday) but...dang, my engagement ring has made an actual indent on my skin. It's really uncomfortable, and I am so sad to have to leave my e-ring at home, but I don't know what else to do until my fingers go back down.

My e-ring is pretty wide...this is making me consider going to a more simple solitaire since it will be narrower. What else can I do, other than getting it permanently sized?

I have actually been trying to lower my salt intake and eat healthier...could I just be purging the excess salt? Lol it's really annoying...and I feel lost without my ring.

Aw, I'm sorry MonkeyPie!
Even though it's tight, can you still wear it? Is it just too uncomfortable?

My fingers swell depending on what I've eaten the day before--pesto gets me every time. I'd just try to lower the salt intake--especially since it's recent.

Hope that works!

Thanks, coatimundi :) I am hoping that maybe after my shower tomorrow I can get my ring back on. I took it off for a bit because it felt so snug, and now when I put it back on, it's almost hurts it's so tight. My husband won't let me wear it, he's all worried about the indent on my finger. The only reason I wouldn't just size it is that I bet this winter, when it's cold, my fingers will do the opposite lol.

It's not just you: I have the Amazing Inflatable Fingers as well. My solution, such as it was, was to have the ring sized to a 5.5 ... when my fingers shrink, I move it to my right hand, when they grow, I move it to my left. If your hands are close-ish in size, this might be a viable solution. Alternately, you could have it sized up, and either resign yourself to occasionally resorting to those plastic sizing tubes from Claire's, or have permanent sizing beads put in: I have no experience with these myself, but I remember some of the other ladies saying that they allowed space for swelling, but kept the ring below the knuckle in cold weather.

P.S. - Wearing a wedding band will tighten things further, so it's definitely a good thing to think about now!

Are you drinking plenty of fluid? if not you may retain fluid and bulge or you could have possibly ate something with loads of hidden salt in it and it could have caused it?

I would try pumping in loads of water :) 2L a day is what the body needs :)

They will, but the key is to get it sized to where it's not this tight when your finger swells, but not so loose that it can fall off when your finger is cool. It WILL most likely spin when cool, but that's the nature of the beast with our fluctuations. We just can't have it all apparently. If it's this tight, I'd try sizing it up 1/2.

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

Thanks Ellen! When we bought the ring it was March (not too cold, not too hot), but I think my biggest problem is how wide it is. My wedding band and my narrow right-hand ring are ok, but my e-ring is SO wide, and that's where the indents are.

My husband is horrified by how my hand looks after wearing the e-ring for awhile, so we are going to go see about getting a plain solitaire setting for it this weekend. Hopefully that helps!

Get your thyroid levels checked. I went from a 90lb girl to a 110 lb girl in a week . Everyone gave me compliments that i don't look anorexic anymore and look healthy blh blah but turned out i had thyroid issues and had to get surgery done.

Thats also when my fingers and toes swelled.
