I have narrowed my search down to these two rocks. The H VS1 is about 3600 and the G VS1 is about 3900. I think they are both pretty good cuts, which is why I need an expert to help me out from here. Any critique or advice would be great.

The second one looks better to me, do you have an ASET for it? What do WF think of the first one?

Thank you for your input Yes, the diamond on the right of the actual diamond pics, is the one I prefer. The first diamond appears to be a bit dark and appears to be leaking light in areas according to the Idealscope and ASET, also in the photo, the other looks better to me. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Do you think the second one is good or just the better of the two? I am getting close to the deadline and don't have too much time left for the search. Thanks again for your help and opinions. I really wish I found PS earlier.

Good radiants are hard to find, and that one looks to be a pretty diamond to my eyes. What is the WF verdict on this one? They won't steer you wrong! ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Brian pretty much said it comes down to what I like. He said he felt the H would look better under normal light. Whereas you will see those dark spots in the G. He polled everyone in the office at the time of talking to him and it was a 3/3 split between the two. The H is cheaper and I think it will sparkle more in a normal setting. It is very hard to find a square radiant that has good numbers. Which is the only thing I have at first to judge before I can request them to bring it in. Darn her for liking square radiants! haha

Although the images are useful, they don't trump an expert's eye, or several of them if Brian polled everyone for their opinions! Personally I prefer the H, but I would be guided by Brian ultimately, as his expert eyes will know best! ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. I could tell by the images, and also if anyone mentions the name Brian around here, it is fairly safe to assume they mean Brian Gavin! ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. Will there be a noticeable difference in the stone when mounted? And if so are these differences usually more positive or negative?

To the best of my knowledge not usually with light return, setting can improve apparent colour in some cases. If you prefer the other diamond, then ask Brian which one would be best. Although we have the images which are very useful, they won't replace an expert eye, so let Brian steer you in the right direction. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. I definitely think you should go with the H. The G looks pretty poorly cut, even though the table and depth numbers don't say reflect it. That's why it's always a good idea to see pics and images. The H should be a pretty sparkly diamond when set, but I don't know if I can say the same about the G.

I know you are not an expert, but what is your opinion on the approx. 3400 price tag for the H? I think I've seen a lot of poorly cut worse color worse clarity for the same and more. Especially in local stores.

I just went through the square radiant buying process...man what a tough thing to do so I commend you! I like the second one as well for the same reasons, seems like lots of dark spots in that first one. Only thing I'd really ask about is the color. H could look a little yellow but then again could be totally fine so see if its an H closer to a G or closer to an I.....what degree of an H it is... Also I concerned myself so much with cut and eventually went with one that didn't have the exact cut parameters but was a good cut diamond. I worked with WF and I'm sure they'll get you a great diamond. best of luck. here's the radiant i went with if you wanna compare. http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=86445

I have now been shown the X-factor stone. I really like the look of it. But I have no idea how to judge the quality of it or what it's worth. Besides that, if I took it to get independently appraised, would they even do it or know how to? I am really confused as to what to do now. Any knowledge or opinions would be great!
