Anyone in the U.S. use Holloway Diamonds to find a stone? |

Just thinking out loud... I'm in the U.S. and will be using an Australian designer for my setting, so any diamond I find will have to be sent to Australia where the ring will be made and the diamond set. So I was wondering what the logistics, taxes and what else would be involved in just sourcing the stone closer to the designer. Plus I'm pretty sure Holloway Diamonds could find a really nice Asscher.

The owner, Gary Holloway, is a PS member and very highly regarded. He is responsible for the HCA (Holloway Cut Advisor) that most of us use to weed out non-performing diamonds. Why don't you contact him and ask all the questions you need. The thing you may need consider is the exchange rate with the dollar being so low.

We only sell and service Australian and NZ clients, and we are a face to face business. But thanks for the thoughts Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |

Just out of curiosity, who is the Australian ring designer?

Hi JP, Pandora and Garry have already beat me to the punch, but I would reiterate that you would most likely lose out financially in such a transaction. Diamonds in Australia are more expensive, plus the aforementioned exchange rate

Looks like they have opened a store in Las Vegas. If you are in the US, you should deal with them. I don't think I'd send my diamond to Australia.

I am dealing with them. They don't do the settings in LV, all work is done in Australia.

I have been to Canturi. To my surprise and amazment the time I visited, they were selling at least one fine setting with a diamond in the lower clarity range for a very fair price indeed. I was amazed because a really stunning ring in one of their signiture designs with a 2 plus carat round was about $35000. Dont quote me my memory is bad but I remember being really bowled over. I was surprised at their non snobby attitude and the fact that their prices were not in the $50 g. plus because they actually look like they should cost that much!!!!!! Of course in the beautiful shop and with the totally amazing setting, the diamond looked fabulous. I assumed I was holding a $100 grand ring!!!! But, Im fairly sure they dont set other peoples diamonds only their own to the Aust. public anyway. As to buying a diamond in Aust when you live in the States......that would be like buying ice from Iraq when you live in the North pole!!!!! ![]()
