what is the size of the ring if it's measured a circle about 16-17mm in diameter?? do i need to take it to a jewelry store for proper measurements? i'm sorta digging around her jewelry box but definitely don't want to be too suspicious so she'd figure out. can someone give me a guesstimate of the size?

tx

I've heard you can trace the ring on paper, and send that in.

My fiance traced 4 of my rings in my jewlery box and then took the average of the sizes since he bought my stone from Good Old Gold and my band from Adiamore- both online retailers. At first it seemed to fit, now i'm realizing it's too big. I want to get it resized, but since the ring was purchased online I don't have a jewler and don't know who to trust here in Dallas. Any suggestions on how to find a reputable jeweler? I have a huge fear of just bringing it in anywhere and having it come back deformed, but if I don't get it resized soon it's going to fall off my finger.

does ring size correspond to shoe size? i'm beginning to think that 5 1/4 might be a little too loose. i used a plastic adjustable ring for measurement and with a diameter of 16mms, it seems to be able to slip on fairly easily. in addition the band it self is sorta thick so i'm thinking may i should go with a 4 3/4???? swiss 9 which happens to be her shoe size as well??

Lol! No, shoe size and ring size have no direct correlation!

If the two rings were both 5's, then I'd get a 5 IF you think she has worn either ring on her left hand ring finger. If she wears them on any other finger and not the left ring finger, then this won't help you!

A thicker band means that you might go UP a quarter size, not down.

You need to start a new thread asking for good jeweler in Dallas. I'd choose an upscale jeweler that is not a chain.

I knew a fellow who stuck an existing ring in a bar of soap and sent it to the jeweler for sizing.

Don't trust Kay. I went to Kay originally and they said that I was a size 8.5. But when I went to GOG I was a 7.5. I know this just adds to your confusion however I would buy a temporary ring sizer and see for yourself what size she really is. Also, measure the one she wears quite frequently especially since ring size can go up and down throughout the day.

this is going to be a surprise so i can't exactly go up to the gf and directly ask. i think i've already danced on pretty thin ice getting the plastic ring measurements. to add to the difficulty, she doesn't wear any rings.... so i'm back on the 5 1/4 wagon hoping that the measurement of 5 from Kays is off. i'm guessing it's better to be bigger than smaller since not being able to even put on a ring after the proposal would be a much larger disaster IMO.

does 5 1/4 sound about right for a 5'8 125lb female?? size 9 shoe :) fingers are sorta long and skinny??.. LOL..

To my knowledge there isn't any correlation between shoe size, height, weight and ring size.

well then is 5 1/4 a skinny finger? i would say her fingers are pretty skinny in comparison to her friends??

also how tight should a ring be?? should it be snug or semi loose where you can move it around that base segment of the finger (base to 1stjoint)
