I just received my Memoire Purity collection eternity engagement ring for my fiance to be!  It couldnt be happier with my choice!  The diamond looks amazing and is totally eye clean just as Pearlman's said and is stunning!!  The Memoire setting is perfect!  I'll try to get pictures by this weekend!  I also ordered a customized Alume style ring box from the Ring Box Company and it should be coming it next week.  Now I just have to work out the details for the proposal!!! Man this feeling is so crazy!! I'm about to get engaged to the girl of my dreams!  I cant wait to see the look on her face! =)

By the way, thank you all for recommending Pearlmans.  They were a dream to work with!  I worked with Joseph on this purchase and he helped answer all my questions.  Jason and Bill were also involved in the transaction so I appreciate their help!  The package included a cleaning kit, Memoire documentation, cert, and of course this ring!!

here is the link to the ring box company - I worked with Nicolette on that purchase she was really helpful as well:

thanks!! we loved the memoire ring too.. when we saw it at a B&M store we knew it was the one... and upon doing more investigating about the designer we found out they are the best for eternity bands and have a really good reputation.

btw.. the cleaning kit i got isnt just some solutions to clean the ring with.. pearlsmans threw in an actual electrical device that cleans the ring.. cool stuff!!

you can search here for info. A lot of folks like to work with Chubb b/c they offer a cash policy so if something happened to the ring they send you a check and you can replace it however you choose. You can also add it as a seperate scheduled rider to your homeowners or renters policy but you'll want a detailed appraisal with specifics on the stone and they designer setting b/c many homeowners policy are replace with like kind policy's and their replacement definitions can be very broad. Jewelers mutual is another popular insurance company that folks here insure with.

I think the insurance policy has to be in her name.

Also, I'm not sure, but Chubb has a minimum value they will insure for, and I don't think your ring is enough?

whats the minimum value?

anyone link me to this chubb company? ima try goolgin it too...

can a person pretty much go to any insurance (allstate, state farm..etc) company to get a ring insured? i dont see why it would have to be in her name when i purchased it and i have the cert etc in hand... it doesnt matter if it is in her name.. i have her contact info and can do it that way.. i just want to play it safe and avoid anything happneing to the ring before the proposal... shes going to the beach in a few weeks too.. so if i give her the ring before then i dont want anything happening to it at the beach.. i rather be protected and ge it insured asap

I think before you give it to her it can be insured in your name, but after you give it to her, the insurance typically needs to be in her name. It depends on the company, though.

update:  i spoke to some insurance companies.. i.e. metlife, allstate and they are telling me that there is no seperate insurance for jewelry.. its usually tied into the home owners insurance.. policy holders just add another schedule/exhibit for the jewelry...

is this what others have done? i live with my parents and i dont want to add it to their home policy.. im getting a house soon and can add it to my own home owners insurance later... but for now.. what can i do?

You will have to get a standalone policy in her name from Chubb or Jeweler's Mutual. Just be sure they don't send her a statement or policy before you propose!  Pearlman's can give you an insurance valuation to submit to the insurance agency along with a copy of the diamond certificate. You don't need a full new appraisal.

~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~
ditto. I opted to just use the insurance valuation rather than get a whole new appraisal on my ring.
