Hi everyone, I have a choice to make and I am a bit stuck on what to do so please chime in and help me pick. I have a loose diamond that I inherited about 5 years ago. I've never had it formally appraised but the family jeweler who took a look at it before I got it told me it is a very nice diamond VS clarity and G/H color. It is .75ct. It is a modern cut but nothing along the lines of anything a PS vendor sells I'm sure, basically it isn't an ACA or anything like that. I want to do something with it. I have my e-ring so what I really want is a RHR that doesn't look like an e-ring. SO here's my dilemma my budget is a bit limited (student/work part-time) and I'd really like to stick with WF they have done my e-ring and all my other little projects. Should I ask WF if they could put this diamond in one of their stock settings since I can't afford to go the custom route? If yes, then which of these two settings would you think would make a better RHR? Personally, I like option number 1 and I should mention my FI and my mom don't like the look of option number 2 they don't like the look of a halo. 1. http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/3Stone/Coeur-de-Clara-Ashley_1164.htm 2.http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/Halo-Prong-Ring-by-WF_941.htm AND last option should I just hang onto the diamond for now and try to get a WF 5 stone U-prong ring which is a bit over my budget but with their layaway type plan I think I can swing it as long as I don't splurge on anything else for a good while? Here is the link to what this ring looks like a couple of PS lovely ladies have this ring. http://www.whiteflash.com/Fine-jewelry/Right-Hand-Rings/Five-Stone-U-Prong-Ring_1213.htm Tell me exactly what you think please, pretty please? Thanks for listening

I like the 1st one and it sounds like you do to.

Thanks Skippy I knew I could count on you and the other loyal ladies on PS to respond! Thanks for fixing my broken links too! I really, really appreciate it. I agree with you about number 1. Do you like it too? I think it is very pretty.

I like option 1 the best. Just a thought - Are you interested in a ring with side stones in colored gemstones? That might give you more options for your money. ![]() Sparkle On My Friends! |

marcyc yes, I have thought about putting it with some blue sapphires or rubies. I'm just not sure if WF can do that w/o going into custom territory and taking the price up. I am going to talk to my rep who helped me with my e-ring this week and I'll keep you all posted on what they tell me. Thanks for your idea!

I prefer the first choice also although I have to say I've been ogling the last ring you posted for quite some time. I think the first choice with two blue aquamarines for side stones would look lovely.

You also might want to consider having your stone re-cut by WF or at least evaluated to see if it could be done without loosing too much weight. I had a stone re-cut and it made an amazing difference for a few hundred dollars. It sounds like a nice project to do.

Skippy, thanks for the links! Love the nerw av too. ![]() btrfly, I too love the first ring, that's just beautiful. I vote for that. As for the 5 stone, that would be one big ring with 5-.75's on it....And expensive. Plus, it says the stone size options are half that size, so I assume it would become custom too. Just a thought! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Hi ladies a big thanks to all who have let me know their thoughts. I think I will talk to WF today about sending them the stone and having them put it in the option number 1 setting. swingirl VERY good idea to ask them if they may be able to re-cut the stone as long as the price isn't too steep. They did such an amazing job on Isabelle's stone turning it into a gorgeous ACA so I'll look into it. Only thing is her stone was much bigger and I don't want to lose too much size/weight on this stone but if it could be done I'd jump at the chance. Ellen thanks for your thoughts but just to let you know option number 3, the 5 stone ring, I would have done with 5 .31ct stones and just held onto my .75ct for future use. It's just that having the 5 stone would have really stretched my budget and I'm not sure I want to do that right now. But WOW a 5 stone with .75ct stones would have been MASSIVE for sure! Thanks a heap and pls anyone else who happens to see this please chime in it is much appreciated!

I think the first option is the best, but my opinion is biased :)
Got it! Thanks to Whiteflash. |

Aur you are too, too lucky! That's awesome that you already have it. Did you put any pics up that I can take a look at??? Just so that everyone knows I am going with the first option. I will put the stone I have now .75ct into the three stone Coeur de Clara Ashley setting yay!!!!! I talked to my rep at WF yesterday, Katie she is an absolute doll BTW and she told me to nix the idea of re-cutting the stone as it could lose too much weight and the setting I want is made to hold a minimum size .75 stone all the way up to a 1.50ct stone. So I guess I'll just have WF set the stone as is. I'll try and take some pics of the stone now before it gets set in the new setting. It is pretty and it does sparkle. I have to say it isn't frozen spit like or anything. It just isn't an ACA obviously. Kelli I take pics all the time but don't have any program to help size them down so I just never end up posting but maybe I'll get admin to help me out they are so nice. I'll definitely take before and after shots and this ring will be my new diamond woo hoo that I can say that, RHR! I do have a diamond butterfly pendant that I wear ALL the time that FI gave me b/c I am crazy about butterflies and he also just got me the WF version of the open heart necklace with a teeny tiny diamond set into it. Plus, I'm a true ring gal! I just lurve them to death! Thanks everyone for your opinion! I'll be in touch as soon as the project is done!

I own the very first, search for threads with my name and you should see some additional pics. .75 center would look great in it, I specified the .20 ct sidestones by ratio'ing them diameter to diameter with a ~.8ct stone. Good luck to you and enjoy it! Got it! Thanks to Whiteflash. |

Aur you are very sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words and congrats on having the very first one of this gorgeous ring. I think I remember now you designed it yourself and it is just beautiful! Really I love the hearts and the way they hold the diamonds. I'm going to take a look at your pics right now. Again thank you and I'll post pics once it is done.
