Hello all! This is my first post on PS; however, I have been a lurker for some time!

I recently purchased an engagement ring for my now-fiancee. The setting is a traditional ring with a center diamond and two side round stones. I picked a 1.01 ct Elara (aka modified round with cut corners) for the center stone. I paid $6500 for the diamond itself. After I got it appraised, however, I feel that I did not get enough "diamond" for that amount of money. I am sure that the premium comes from the "Elara" brand.

Now, I want to return the Elara diamond and go elsewhere for a different diamond. A local jeweler store here showed me some Original Radiants. They are beautiful diamonds; however, I feel that these too have a huge premium because of the brand.

I have done some online research, including reading through post here at PS, but I want to go ahead and ask directly. Does anyone have any insight on these diamonds? Specifically, how much of a difference in price would I generally see from a generic to an Original? Also, is it true that color (G-I) is definitely visually noticeable? Are the prices I've listed below reasonable for Originals?

1.01ct H VS1 $6720
1.02ct G SI1 $6535
1.03ct F VS1 $8775
1.03ct G VS1 $8280
1.04ct F VS2 $7985
1.10ct I SI1 $5750

While I spent $6500 for the Elara, I am open to spend more than that if I am getting a diamond that's not overly inflated in price.

The 1.03ct F VS1 for $8775 has a depth of 60.4% and a table of 64.0% and seemed to be priced reasonably. However, I did a quick PS pricing, and the prices for similiar, generic diamonds range from approx. $4500 to $6250. This is a 30% to 95% premium for an Original!!! (I realize that I'm ignoring many factors here.)

Any help would be appreciated!

I think going from a clipped-corner round to a radiant is two totally differently looks!  I'd think more carefully about switching?

Thanks for the concern. My fiancee and I have thought long and hard about switching.
