Those who are aware of my wedding band search saga know that I've been struggling with the choice between a practical forever-type band and a diamond band that better compliments my ring. I thought that an engraved band would be the magical solution to my dilemma, so we planned a trip to visit FI's parents in Seattle with the idea of visiting Green Lake Jewelry Works. After a visit to GL on Sunday, I've found that engraved bands aren't an option, either (more on that if anyone's interested), and I actually prefer plain to engraved--at least their style of it, which is, I suppose, all I've seen.

So I spent a couple of days mulling over my options. I could wear a plain band, which would fulfill my desire for a 24/7 band that I wouldn't have to feel funny about showering/applying lotion/etc. while wearing, and be somewhat unhappy with the look of my set. Or, I could get a diamond wedding band in order to love the look of my set, and either remove it for shower/lotion/etc. or just suck it up and deal with having to clean it more often as a result.

After thoroughly thinking it over, I've decided that it's more important for me to love the look of my set than to love the function of it. After all, the primary purpose of jewelry is the enjoyment its aesthetic, right?

Please share with me your great finds, or even descriptions of custom projects, that you think would look great with my ring! As a side note, matchy-matchy is lovely, but I prefer coordinated bands rather than matched

(Firm budget cut-off is around $3000, but would prefer not to cross the $2500 mark.)

Vital info on my ring: 3.3mm at top of shank, 1.9mm at thinnest point. The general "look" of the width is ~2mm.

With a couple different bands

I've tried and loved the following bands with my ring, as a jumping-off-point.

Here are some bands that I haven't yet tried (don't know where to find 'em yet!), but suspect I'd love:

Kirk Kara Carmella:

I kinda think the Tiffany Legacy would look really good with your engagement ring. It seems like it would coordinate well with it and not be too matchy match, to me anyway.

Musey, I totally struggled with the same problem. My e-ring is antique style. It has a halo, milgrain, & engraving.
I ended up getting a matching diamond eternity band & an engraved band with no diamonds. This was primarily because we got a great deal on the band from a local jeweler.
Since you like that Kirk Kara, you may like something from Tacori. Check out this link. They have a great return policy & amazing prices well below your budget: http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=tacori&refinebrand=Tacori&searchtype=HP_Header I think it's worth a try...and maybe you can also pick up that great tacori engraved no diamonds band with all of the money you saved! lol

Oh! Why couldn't you get a band from Green Lakes in Seattle?

Btw, the Tiffany Jazz compliments the lines of your e-ring where the centre stone reaches the shank, kwim?

LOL too funny. BF and I got into a fight the other night when I was getting ready to go out. I said I was too "matchy-matchy" and he said, after I asked him 1000 times, I was  "not 'matchy-matchy', just a complete and utter lunatic" hehehe...

The legacy is as exact a match as I could get, without it having the "shoulders" that my ring has, anyway. I was really surprised when I first tried it on, the bead-set style and the width look almost made to go with my ring!

Anyway, the legacy would be the matchy choice for me.

Oh! Why couldn't you get a band from Green Lakes in Seattle?

It was just REALLY not what I was picturing at all--and I've found it so difficult to describe, even to the people who were there with me! I was picturing more of a soft engraving, with 'curved' dipping into the grooves, and what they had was more like sharp cuts or etching... if that makes any sense at all.

Anyway, on the thinner bands especially the pattern of the engraving was almost indiscernible because it was SO sharp and intricate, it just looked like a cut-up platinum band. I was also a little bummed out because I called ahead to ask if they'd have rings like a couple on their website for me to look at in-person, and I was assured that they had many with exactly the same pattern... and when I got there, the SA said "sure, we have some that are similar, we can also re-create anything you see online!" But, for me, the purpose in visiting was to see whether what I liked online in pictures was something I'd like in-person. I'd flown all that way to see those specific bands, not something that's sort of similar.

I hope that makes sense, I know it's confusing!

I haven't ruled out engraved bands, and I'll still try them on if I can find them--but I feel that engraved bands, more than any other style, are very very different in-person than in pictures.

Gosh I love the way they look together...the band totally looks great with the bold shoulders of the e-ring:

Musey, trying to find a wedding band for an asscher in a unique, antique setting (without miligraining) is something near and dear to my heart, haha. It is SO hard.

My first thought was something like the new Tiffany Metro band. It's bead set, just like the shoulders of your ring. A bead-set ring might be a little "matchy-matchy" for you, but since your stones are graduated and your setting is unique, I don't think anything would look "matchy". Also, a bead set ring would be safe since there wouldn't be any rubbing issues and it would compliment your current setting perfectly.

I also thought of singlestone...since getting my french cut sapphire band I'm now in love with french cuts and Singlestone has those fantastic french cut diamond bands. http://www.singlestone.com/site.php?page=collections&catID=9&pID=73&startRow=1

I would also consider having an eternity band made in single cuts, though then you'd have to worry about the prong-rubbing issue. Still, I'm in love with single cuts and wish I had some!

Are you considering getting a plain wedding band as well? I would definitely consider it, though admittedly once you fall in love with the comfort of a plain band it's hard to go back, haha. I think I wear a plain band about 80% of the time now, I don't even have to think about taking it off or getting it dirty...my poor e-ring and wedding bands are probably getting lonely.

Ugh, I know!! I was hoping you'd weigh in

I'm definitely going to visit Singlestone, as well as Neil Lane (and the other stores in that building) to try on a bunch of stuff.

I have a Tiffany lucida band that I impulse-bought about a year ago. I LOVE it, and I keep trying to love it with my e-ring... talk myself into it each time I try them on together, and just can never stick with it for long.

I really want one single "forever" band, but I just don't know that that's possible if I can't love a plain band with my ring (wearing on separate hands is not an option). I'm currently planning to hold on to the lucida at least until I've concluded this wedding band search, and then if the band I choose isn't okay for 24/7 wear I'll use it as an alternate band.

Musey, I LOVE the Tiffany swing ring.  Have you seen this one that's similar from Fay Cullen? http://faycullen.com/eternity/300/c1202t1d.html

ETA:  I LOVE the rings on faycullen.com.  It seems like they have a lot in your price range that you might like.  If you haven't already, I highly suggest you check it out.

I think the Ritani would be gorgeous with it...Musey, I'm planning on having two wedding bands just because I love the look of the stacked bands and because I want a forever band-one that says, "I'm married", that I can wear all the time. I think that will be the most sentimental piece of jewelry I will ever own, and I don't plan on taking it off.

If I had your ring, I would get an engraved or eternity band-or some kind of combination of the two, and pair it with your ering and the Lucida band. I really like the look of your grad ring, Lucida and ering together-I think if you did something like that, it would be pretty awesome.

Am I making any sense? I don't feel like I am.

musey, i ended up getting a custom platinum 2.5mm with milgrain from Quest. i specified that i wanted rounded delicate milgrain and i am pretty happy with the end result. plus they gave a PS discount and i did not have to pay any tax so my ring only cost about $650. i don't have great pics of my set yet but i posted one pic in gwen's thread

Honestly, I didn't even think about it I wish I had, though I likely would've gone with a plain solitaire if I'd been thinking about the band... and I'm glad I didn't at least in that regard.

Love milgrain--as long as it's THIN. I don't like the thick kind like on the Tiffany bands.

Hehe, I like that middle band!

I can say from experience the stacking bands Iwanna posted have the tiniest and most delicate milgrain ever. I think it is "00" guage, which is as small as you can get!

You are! I was initially thinking of using the lucida band as my wedding band, and then adding a nice bead-set diamond band for an anniversary. It starts feeling uncomfortably thick, though! I think I'd have to go with a thinner plain band if I did that.
