Hello, I've been lurking for a short while but couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted to introduce myself and share a couple of pics of a ring I very recently bought. I did get it off of ebay but I feel the seller was very honest and trustworthy. The box the ring came in says Gems, which I'd assume is Gems tv, anyone know much about them? I am very new to the jewelry watching and collecting so I know just about nothing, but I'm here to learn. I only have the stats that were listed for it. They are:

Metal Weight:  18K GOLD 4.46 g.
Product Type: 18K CEYLON PADPARADSCHA  SAPPHIRE GOLD RING
Size: 7
Color: WHITE GOLD

Main Gem Details:
Type: CEYLON PADPARADSCHA  SAPPHIRE
Total Weight: 0.550 Ct.
Size: 5.5X4.5 MM
Shape: OVAL
Setting Type: PRONG
Origin: SRI LANKA

Accent Gem Details:
Type: DIAMOND
Piece(s): 4 Pc(s).
Total Weight: 0.049 Ct.
Size: 1.5 MM
Shape: ROUND
Setting Type: PAVE
Origin:  AFRICA

I paid $305 for the ring and I'm very happy with the sapphire, not too crazy about the setting though. I am planning on resetting the stone and making it my e-ring. I've been drooling over pads on DSN for a while now and just had to have one! I like diamonds, and no offense to anyone, but almost everybody has one of those. I'm different so I wanted my ring to be different.  My boyfriend agreed about that and the fact that it needs more and bigger diamonds surrounding it.  Money of course was a factor and this being my first I decided to stay on the small side. I generally don't wear jewelry anyway. My pictures aren't that great but here goes (hopefully I can figure it out)!

I love the color. I've always been confused about when a sapphire is considered a padparadscha, and many sellers seem to be so as well. I've seen orange stones with not hint of pink passed off as padparadscha. Yours is definitely in the more pink end of the scale (judging by the pics), but in any event, it is a beautiful color.

Thank you Kim! I really do love the color. It is mainly pink but I can get some orange flashes out of it. My picture taking is terrible but here's one more that almost shows the orangey color.

Oh I love padparadschas!  Congrats to you and I hope the setting you like works out.  The bezel set pears on the sides are divine.  Good luck!

Thank you so much to everyone! I hate to be so me, me, me in my first posts so please excuse me for that. I'm just so excited!! We picked out the setting on Saturday. I went with one very similar to the one I posted but ended up going with bezel set marquise diamonds on the sides. We went to pick up the ring yesterday but the sales lady failed to tell us that the store was closing at 5. I specifically asked what there hours were for that day, knowing it was Memorial Day, and we showed up at 6:30 thinking that they were closing at 7 but oh well. I can wait 'til this weekend to make another road trip to Austin I suppose.

In the store the pad looked totally orange with only pink flashes! It was crazy to see the difference in color with the different lighting! WOW! The lady even listed it as orange on their receipt and the stone weighed in at .82 cts. :-) I know it's not much of an update, without any pictures, but I had to share. I'm so anxious and excited to see the final product and will post pics just as soon as I can.

Thank you again!

Hi Brandy,

Your Pad is very pretty. I am a Padparadscha addict You can definitely see both colors in your stone. I love to play with my stones in the different lighting too.

Please post your stone again, in your new setting. I would love to see it.

Linda

Simon G is the designer of the pear and I didn't verify but I'm pretty sure he's the designer on the one I actually went with, and attached a picture of. The only real difference between the two is the bezel set marquise instead of the pears. The actual wedding band is the exact same style and works with three of the designs they had at the store. I really, really liked the pear setting but I studied them for what felt like forever and think that the slightly narrower marquise made my stone pop a bit more so I ended up going with that one. It was a very tough decision. I went in with my mind set on the pears so I hope I made the right decision.

Thank you! I can't quit smiling, now if only I had it on my hand or even in my possession already!! Patience...28 years old and I have two kids and I still don't know how to be patient.
