She informed me that the pink hydrangeas we wanted are going to be dyed. The reason is that the flower vendor she ordered from said the pink ones appeared "speckled" and that a recent client (for another wedding) was not happy with their appearance. The florist didn't bother to call me or my mom to ask us if we are okay with dyed pink hydrangeas. Has anyone has fresh flowers dyed? I actually wanted pink and ivory variegated ones (which they call antique hydrangeas), but this speckling is apparently not variegation, but just something that's not all that attractive going on on the solid pink ones. I didn't even ask her why she couldn't get antique ones...I'm just assuming she couldn't. Should I be freaking out? The idea of dyed pink hydrangeas sounds awful to me, like they'll be so uniformly pink they couldn't possibly still look natural. She said the vendor insists they look good. Am I worried for nothing?

When I worked for a florist we also spray painted some flowers with this spray paint designed specifically for flowers. We decided to change the seating layout for the reception and so I need 3 more centerpieces. The vases I purchased at Michael's for the flowers a few months ago are no longer available, so I'm scrambling to figure out what plan B will be. lol. By the way, my mom did fix the sash on my dress. She cut it, and then tried sewing it to the dress first, but that pulled the zipper a bit when I tried it on. So, her final solution was to use some small snaps, and they worked out very well. The sash has no tails now--it just goes around my waist and snaps in the back, right over where the zipper is. I am worried about the sash sliding around a bit though, so she's going to put one more snap that will actually snap the sash to the dress right at the zipper area. I will get a pic and show you maybe next week some time...if not, after the wedding :) Hope your plans are going well!! ETA: Just wanted to add that you can't see the snaps at all once it's done up. You'll see what I mean when I get a pic. The dress is being stored at my mom's now, but I'll get a pic eventually.

I actually had DB attach the sash to the dress in the front, in two spots, so it doesn't move around...I ended up doing nothing with the length, so I think I'll just leave it long in the back... Did you end up having your dress bustled? This had not come up at all during my fitting, but when I went to pick it up one of the tailors asked me why I hadn't had it done...I was a little annoyed that nobody had realized to tell me that...so I ended up leaving it, and it's getting bustled now. Don't worry about getting a pic up...you've got centerpieces to worry about!

CJ2008 Ideal Rock Total Posts: 1,625 Last Post: 11/2/2009 Member Since: 12/31/2006	melpla, to tell you the truth, by the time I'm bustling the dress, I won't really care about it looking perfectly...that said, it didn't look like it was going to look too bad...but I did it for comfort more than anything else. Even though the tail is tiny, it does get in the way. The only reason they suggested it for me is because when I went to pick it up after the alterations, I made a comment that I was suprised how much a little tail could get in the way...I know nothing about these things, that's why I hadn't thought of it myself. I did ask them if it would ruin the dress in any way and they said no (I was concerned about the lace, you know?) and she did say the've bustled that particular dress before. So we'll see... ETA: melpla - I'm kind of freaking out now that bustling the dress isn't the right idea...arrggghh...if you speak to your mom today can you ask her opinion? I may still be in time to catch them before they do it...I dropped it off just Tuesday.
