I think they're also called Lucite chairs. I like their clean, modern lines too! By the way, any news about Say Yes to the Dress?

there are probably knockoffs, but the original is called the louis ghost chair. the original designer is philippe stark, a french furniture designer who designs for kartell. love that chair.

They are know as the Louis Ghost chair by Philippe Starck for Kartell. They became really big last year and as soon as I saw them, I wanted one. My mother gave me one as a birthday present last year (1 clear armchair as an accent chair in the bedroom). Every chair that was shipped to us came with some kind of deep scratch, so after shipping 3 damaged chairs, they gave us our money back. I would still like to get one again, but will make sure it is from a store near-by so it does not haveto be shipped. I know eventually they will get marked up and that is ok, but I don't want a brand new chair with marks in it. The clear, black, and white are my favorite, but they do come in a lot of colors and styles. His latest is now in chrome. I saw the picture you posted in a magazine or online and loved it and wanted to keep it as an idea (the picture with pink flowers). But the condition of these chairs, especially if renting them, is definitely something to keep in mind. http://www.unicahome.com/catalog/item.asp?id=7823

I think it might look a little trendy for a wedding, but I still like the way it looks. But why is it that I can't help but think of what all of my guests butts would look like smashed up against the clear plastic (or lucite, rather)? Now that would be a funny photo.

Agreed re the funny photo. These have been trendy for a couple of years now. However, many Philippe Starck designs become classics. He is considered one of the great designers of the last 50 years after all. So I'm less concerned about this looking trendy and becoming dated. It looks trendy and will likely look classic in that way that the best design of each era looks classic.

Phillippe Starck Ghost chair! I love the classic lines of this chair with the modern twist. I think it'll be a classic also as he is considered a great designer. I think you can rent the chairs for a wedding, but if you buy for the home I would buy from DWR.
