I posted a few times about helping my firend's daughter with her wedding, so I owe you guys some pictures.

The story behind the wedding:

A and M got married quickly before he had to ship off to Iraq. When he got back they wanted to have the full blown wedding. I think they went a little over-board for what was essentially a renewal of the vows (they had showers/bachelor & bachelorette parties), but it's what they wanted. I was the amature wedding planner, to help my firend keep sane, and my husband was the amature photographer to help keep things in budget. They got married March 16 in Phoenix, with about 130 guests. It all turned out pretty nice, and everyone was happy.

Here's the aisle decorations I did, before we added the orchids:

A gained like 15 pounds after ordering her dress, and didn't seem very motivated to loose it. Her mom and I added this lace-up back on top of the zipper to make it fit. It wasn't the best, but it stayed on her and nothing ripped.

Walking up the aisle, she had her mom and stepdad do the honors

The ceremony location had a raised section that gave everyone a good view of the wedding party.

The kiss. She had the longest hair I've seen at a wedding, and cut it off above her shoulders the next week.

Walking away, to the Star Wars theme, interesting choice of recessional. They mentioned it at the rehersal, and I thought they were joking!

Here's how the aisle looked once I added the orchinds. We bought a huge bunch of them online and made the centerpieces and the aisle decorations.

The centerpieces. They looked really nice with all the candles lit and the tables set. We bought the vases at Walmart and the candles at Michaels, the florist wanted almost $75 to make the same thing.

Here's the floral arrangements that the florist did do. The center one was heavy, we had to add sand bags to teh bottom of the arch so it wouldn't tip over.

Last picture, bling shot! He has a titanium band, and her ring is a 1cttw three-stone. I haven't seen a french manicure like this either, with little stones along the tips.

I just wanted to thank everyone that responded to my posts and helped get this thing going. I'll probably be at it again soon, my receptionist at work just got engaged and is going to plan a wedding in South Dakota while living in Phoenix. That's going to be an adventure!

the photos are beautiful! :-)  good job. i have to ask though, is there a story behind this that i missed? between your saying that you thought it was "a little overboard," to you mentioning that she gained 15 pounds, to the remark about the processional being "interesting," I just get an air of animosity.  Maybe i'm just reading into it or don't know the back story (I couldn't find it).  Am i reading into this too much?

I got the same vibe - the pics look great, though! Do you happen to have any more hair shots? My hair is the same length and I think I'm going for the same approximate style. . .

I was going to say the same...without being ahem, catty, what's the deal between you (MG) and this bride?  All I got from the commentary was negativity, unfortunately, when the pics you posted were so beautiful.  Kind of ruined the whole picture experience for me...sorry you had to help your friend's daughter, Mustangal, but wow, did you throw a negative spin on the whole wedding as you presented it to us.

WTH!  Are you seriously saying that this gal gained 15 lbs and couldn't fit into her dress?  Because it looks to me like she is fitting into it just perfectly from the pic you posted.

I'm so jealous. Her hair is beautiful! Is yours curly too?

Lovely wedding - the raised platform is very convenient!

Beautiful pictures and it looks like a beautiful, happy wedding and thank you for sharing,
BUT,
I got the same impression as the pps.
From the comment about going overboard, to the fact that the bride gained 15 pounds and was unmotivated to lose it, to the comment about the length of the brides hair and it being the longest you had seen at a wedding, to the comment about the recessional song, and lastly the comment about the brides manicure. Wowee, I really hope you don't express these thougths as negatively as you did here to the bride.

Only best wishes to the newly married couple.

Sorry about the attitude coming through!

I didn't really get along with the bride, I'm more a firend of her mom's, even though I'm closer to the brides age. She was a little bridezilla-ish, and would flip out over some of the details, and then would not care or help with most of it. One of the main issues I had with her was that she and her husband, who were married for over a year at the time of this wedding, contributed nothing to it. Her poor mother was pretty much walked all over, and then was expected to pay for all of it. A and M both have good jobs and should have been able to help, they just had an attitude of entitlement that bothered me.

When they started planing this whole thing, I thought it was going to be much smaller and less formal, which is why I volunteered the help of my husband and I. At the point where it became a huge affair I tried to back out, but they guilt-tripped me into staying on.

haha, maybe I missed soemthing since I am new to this forum, but personally, I didn't think it was negative to say that she had the longest hair she's ever seen.  I thought it was a very matter-of-fact account of a wedding.  She's clearly not close to the girl, but since she used this forum to help with details, she posted details here.  If I had helped a friend alter a dress to account for the fact that it would not zip, I'd post about it too!  The fact of the matter is that this girl gained 15 pounds - it's not like she called her fat!

I love the picture of their kiss.  That's such a great action shot!  Those orchids in water turned out very pretty.  I wonder how other flowers would look like that.

Star wars music is definitely not my style, but I am in a wedding in two weeks that I could totally see the couple pulling a nerd move like that.  It would really fit them, and everyone who knows them would laugh.  I don't think they will though.

Everything was beautiful. And her hair - very envious of anyone that has hair like that. Looks amazing..

I was just looking for the thread the other day about having to have the corset back added... Was it hard, expensive, etc? I want to add one into my dress (it's too big, so I don't know if it's possible).

I did like the hair, I was just saying it was relly long! Sorry guys, I really didn't mean to sound that snippy! No, I didn't express any of these feeling to the couple, just to my poor DH.

The back was actually very simple to add, but it wasn't the most professional job, and if the pictures had been closer you would probably be able to tell it wasn't original to the dress. We just bought the loops in a strip, and sewed them right on top of the zipper, that little section of fabric between the zipper teeth and where the zipper goes into the dress. The lacing was 1/2" double-faced satin ribbon. We were afraid to tighten it too much for fear of it coming off the zipper, so in some of the pictures the front of the dress looks a little loose.

She was determined to wear this dress, even after discovering it wouldn't fit in plenty of time to loose the weight, she just left it up to her mother and I to figure out a way to make it work.

The centerpieces were really simple. We just cut the orchids to the height needed, put 2 stems in each vase, filled them up with water and ploped the candle on the top. There were 15 of them, and about 4 of us putting them together. the MOG did the cutting, MOB did the water pouring, and I unwrapped teh candles. The servers lit all the candles right before the guests went in, and they lasted the whole night.

I'll see if I can find more hair pictures when I get home tonight. It turned out really pretty. She has a hard time keeping the curl in, and it only dropped a little by the end of the night.

Wow, I would kill for hair like that!

You did a great job, and the dress looks fab in the pics, I was squinting quite carefully to see what you had don't and you really can't see.

Kudos for you and your DH for helping this girl out with her wedding (especially if she's not your favourite person...), I bet her mother was grateful!
