Me! 11 October 2009, so I've got lots of time to figure out how to do this. And to convince the family that I haven't lost my mind - some of them aren't so keen on Vegas.

Hey! This is funny I'm from Chicago and I'm getting married in Vegas on April 25th 2009 too, we just picked the date! My mom lives in Vegas and the weather will be nice..80's most likely. What hotel are you getting married at? Are you having a dinner party afterwards? Have you reserved anything yet? We're trying to decide between four hotels, but will make a decision in about 4 weeks when we fly out there for vacation! Hope you reply back!

Ooh, mintve! We're totally going to pick your brain. What's the worst mistake people make?

Tell people to be on time!
Vegas weddings start on time, it's easy to get lost, even if you are at the right hotel.
My maid of honor almost missed the whole thing!
Give yourself some time to parade around, everyone congratulates you...it's fun.
Good luck!

yes, I agree about making sure guests are there on time.  Vegas weddings are like clockwork, especially on Saturday when the chapel could have 10+ weddings.

Also, communicate w/ your planner and if you don't like them, its OK to ask for a new one.

I am not sure how all hotels works, but at Caesars our flowers were  by Jane Carroll and she was awesome.  So, sometimes its better to tell them to give you a seasonal floral bouquet is your color.

and for receptions, people did banquets, restaurants, some Didi cocktails by the pool.  lots of options.

some brides shipped their gowns in early.  I think it would be best to have it as carry on b/c you don't want it to get lost in the mail or in the casino/hotel

lots of people used Vegas postcards as save the date cards.  I went out on a few occasions to buy them for my brides and they paid me for them.

make it fun and unique...its Vegas afterall and it gives you the right to do something crazy for your wedding.  At Caesars, we had a few w/ Elvis singers, a few brides carried in on a litter by centurion guard or had Caesar and Cleopatra as MB and MOH.  anything is possible

hope this helps!
