 wasted appraisal

Hello PS,

i have bought a diamond from a reputable dealer here and am picking it up in a week or so....it is laser inscribed from the gia...am i wasting my money having an appraisal?

It depends. If it comes with an appraisal for insurance purposes (which most vendors will provide if asked) AND you are comfortable with the purchase, yes you don't need an appraisal. But if you'd like it confirmed for peace of mind OR you need an appraisal for insurance purposes then it isn't a waste.

I didn't see a need to have my GOG and WF stones appraised since they had already been independently graded by GIA and AGS, not to mention all the testing the vendors did!  I used sales receipts and labe certificates to insure.
