As we speak (type).. he's looking at diamonds for my ring... RIGHT NOW! I wanted to come with, and complained a little. But I gave up because how in the heck is he ever going to get a diamond if I ALWAYS go with (this is the only time I haven't gone with). weeeeeeeeeee I'm so so so exciiiited.

I hope he doesn't over do it though. I'm not terribly color sensitive to diamonds, a GHI diamond is just as good as a DEF to me. It's the clarity level that I'm more sensitive to..

Anyways....... I couldn't contain my excitement!

Wow, big news! That's exciting.

I'm TOTALLY with ya on the colour sensitivity, too. I don't think I'd want to go lower than an I but anything around or above that is perfect in my book. Not quite sure how to tell SO that, though, as I know he's big on it being a surprise as well as 'taking charge' of the engagement/ring in general. Plus, well, I don't want him to realize that I'm borderline obsessing over the e-word. LOL.

I know I know! He was there at least two hours... I thought he was done, so I called him and asked where he was (we're going to a movie tonight) he was like, I'm kind of busy...... having a conversation.......... *silence* haha. He then called me when he was done just to tease me and told me he looked at diamonds and settings. I asked if he had looked at the one that I absolutely adore (the one that he dislikes).. he said yup and then some! He actually sounded more excited than me about it for the first time ever.

We're closing in on an engagement!! I'm sure it'll still be a few months, but it's at least in arms reach instead of being "later" or "sometime this year"

As far as color sensitivity, I've seen some nice J's that werent bad at all. I really like H's and I's.. it gives my extra pale complextion a hint of color
Now, if money we're no object, I'm sure I'd be prefering a flawless 90 carat D With it's own armed security guard.

A little update: We went out for ice cream and he wanted to chat about him going alone

Apparently, he looked at diamond after diamond, and a lot of settings. I totally want him to pick the diamond out alone.. so I didn't ask TOO many questions. He did mention his favorite diamond was E in color. I opened my big fat mouth and said, "NEVER get me a DE or F diamond!" haha. He looked at me like.. and said, but all of the times we've looked at diamonds you've gone for the whiter diamond.

THIS is a trick that jewelers like to play on men. They have the GF or FI looking at the diamonds and say, "Now pick the two that look the best" So I picked the ones with the less inclusions, that were whiter, and huge. LOL Obviously, all of them were gorgeous but I had to pick just two... see what I'm saying??

I reassured the BF that whatever he picks will be lovely. We already know that we'll upgrade the diamond a few years later, so really, I just want something from the heart. I'd rather have a smaller diamond now that was less stressful to him, than a bigger one that made him stress out.

I've come a long way! Many years ago I used to say, "My ring will be 2.5 carats, and the best there is! Heck if I get a tiny diamond.."

Well, after growing the heck up.. I'm happy with whatever

LOL
