I've scrolled through all of the old "show me your pears" posts to get ideas of the different types of pear halos out there, but only one person (Mary Alaina) mentioned who made her ring (WF). I'm familiar with Katherine Heigl's ring and I'm not willing to pay Ritani their premium prices. I'd rather get bigger diamonds or more diamonds and not so famous a name, if you know what I mean. What other manufacturers do halo mountings for pears?

i think most desingers will do their setting for a pear, you just don't see a lot on websites b/c other shapes are just more popular right now. A pear halo will mostlikely have tp be made exactly the size of your pear so i'm not sure you'll be able to find something a lot cheaper than Ritani, even a no name. you can always call around for qoutes though.

why dont you contact Mark at Engagement Rings Direct? I just purchased my 2ct cushion engagement ring from him. he is also doing my setting, and coincidentally, its from Ritani. he can do something custom for you or get you the setting you want (maybe even the Ritani) at a more reasonable price. i have researched settings/stones for months, and he is the total package of value, honesty and integrity. after my engagement ring is done, i am going to have him help me re-set my mom's engagement ring which is you guessed it, a pear! i am also thinking halo but unsure since its a larger stone (5.14 ct) and we may make it into a pendant instead. good luck. let me know how it goes.

Thank you very much for the suggestions golfchick and K&L. I completely forgot about Mark at ERD. I always think of him as the cushion king (!), but I like the idea that he is in Manhattan and I can get to his place easily to talk to him in person about my project. I really do like Whiteflash's split shank halo ring, but having my five stone made long distance proved to me that I'm a "hands on" kind of gal. I'd like to be there and talk to someone face to face about what I want done and I'd like to see the process as it happens so I can make small changes if necessary. Ritani's rings are very pretty. I've seen many of them in person, but I think I'd prefer something more substantial than their rings. I like metal and I like bigger diamonds. My personal jeweler spoiled me in that way. Thanks for the info. I have a lot of thinking and planning to do for next year's project. golfchick, your Mom's stone would make a killer pendant!! 5 plus carats?? Heaven! A 5 ct. pear pendant halo-ed with pink diamonds in platinum! Oh baby.....

Gemgirl, i toally recommend that you see Mark and Gary. They are excellent at what they do and are so patient and will probably have some great ideas and options. i am also very hands on and its make a huge difference when you can touch and feel the settings/rings as you make your decision. Funny what you said about Ritani, i love it because its very delicate and LESS metal! so every pot does have its lid! . There are millions of styles out there and it became way too overwhelmng when i started looking for my engagement ring. The best thing i did was go to a big store like Michael C. Fina and look at a TON of rings and noted the designers that i liked. i also went though a ton of bridal magazine (the knot has a great magazine and the most recent martha stewart weddings mag is all about rings - definitely get it!!) and tore out all the styles that i loved but more importantly, hated. have you looked at Martin FLyer, Vatche,Rina Limor,or Jack Kelege? anything you find i am sure ERD can custom make or possibly get the actual designer setting for you.and yes, i am excited about my moms pear. we just got ia GIA cert for it and even though it was graded as a one of those off colors (Y-Z range) thats not quite white but not quite light yellow i still think its so stunning. we are unsure of what color diamonds we'll use in the halo or even what metal I(yellow gold or plat). let me know if you have any ideas! good luck. let me know how it goes! golfchicknyc |

I must be trapped in the bow zone.... I love this ring. It's obviously a massive stone (it's from Fred Leighton) and I don't know how the setting would translate to anything less girmormous. ![]() _________________________________ |

Oh well THIS is just delicious! Nice size diamonds in the halo. I'm loving it, and it looks like I could fit a matching wedding ring next to it with a neat little gap. The head angles inward at just enough of an angle. Does anyone of us PSers own this? How did you find it? I wonder what other treasures WF has in their vast library of past custom work. I'm hoping that Whiteflash will start doing palladium soon as a matter of routine choice. I love palladium (I just bought two 2.5mm bands to use as guard rings and I became an instant fan). Using palladium instead of platinum helps lower the cost.

ninama, don't tempt me. I'm a bow girl! I have a yellow gold diamond bow slide, a white gold diamond bow necklace and a vintage repro diamond necklace with bows. Bows are very romantic! Can I have that huge rock under the bow? LOL! Date: 5/7/2008 11:13:04 AM
