Ohhh... thank goodness I found this!

I am getting eaten alive inside trying to figure out what's going on in his head! I'm 25, he's 28 and we've been together for 2.5 years. We've talked about the ring so, so much.He knows exactly what I want!  But he always says "When I finally propose..." FINALLY??? UGH! He's killing me, really!

He just started a new job -- hoping maybe the extra cash and sense of stability will get him thinking more.

So nice to see that I'm not alone in this suffering! Good suffering... but suffering!! :)

Welcome! we can all suffer together on this board, it helps keep me sane at least. After being on PS awhile I have definitely calmed down alot about needing the proposal right away. BUT: I hope you get yours veryyyyy SOON!!! :)

Welcome!!!

Yes, it is a good suffering!  Kind of like -- counting down until Christmas... except the present is the rest of your lives together.  No wonder we're all hopping up and down with excitement.

Hop!  Hop!  Hop!

Hi. I'm new here and am also a "lady in waiting." I'm in my mid-forties...My beloved husband of 14 years died about three years ago, and I have unexpectedly, blessedly found a great man I love and would like to share life with. I know he's looking at rings, and I've discreetly given him some info about what I'd like.

The excitement is more about us starting our adventure of a shared life together, but I'm also finding that I'm MUCH more pumped about an engagement ring than I ever thought I could be. Maybe it's being middle-aged, and having gone through some very tough things, that make a girl want to feel like a "princess" (even though I'm a "modern, self-sufficient" woman who's OK on my own).

My BF earns a very good salary but is frugal in his living habits, and I wasn't at all sure how he'd feel about the price levels of the things I showed him I liked (printed stuff out from the Web). I am fairly tall and medium to large-boned and thought a small stone with a delicate setting would get completely lost on my hand, so the things I showed him were about 2 carats (with the caveat that I'm NOT picky about color or clarity). Hope this was OK.

Anyone else in a similar situation? The biggest thing about all this is looking forward to being forever partners with this great man (but rings are fun, aren't they?)

Welcome! I wasn't here all last week so today I am overposting! Anyway, as the others have already told you, glad you decided to say hello AND no, you are definitely not alone! You'll find, as I have (been on PS for a month or so), that the women (some men) here are very supportive, compassionate and love to chat about anything and everything. It most certainly helps get your mind off things that irritate you at home.

Again, welcome--I hope you're not waiting to long for that proposal!!!
