Please excuse the naive question, but how do you find out about sample sales? I live in Chicago, so I'd think there should be some samples sales going on SOMEWHERE, but I can't find any info? Where do I need to look?

Thanks.

I think DailyCandy has a Chicago edition.  Just go to DailyCandy.com and sign up for your version.  They send out daily emails and usually they include sample sales.  However, if you just google "sample sales chicago" you'll get links to some other options.  In NYC we have TopButton which is the best for notices about sample sales...but unfortunately they don't have a Chicago version.

if you sign up with theknot.com they send you tons of junk mails including sample sale info ... but honestly, it's not that much.  sample sales don't seem to happen as often even in big cities like l.a. or chicago.

otherwise, it seems like it's up to the individual store to have a sample sale.  meaning, you have to call around yourself.  if you have a lot of time between now and your wedding, you should ask them to call you when they are having a sale.

i also learned that even if a store is not having a sale, it never hurts to ask if they are willing to sell their floor sample at a discount.  of course, only ask if you found a dress that you're willing to purchase, is in good condition, and is not too off in the size.  i received offers of up to 50% off for gowns that i was interested in.

good luck!
