hehehe... ok I'm not REALLY laughing.  But I see where your priorities are.  First- honeymoon (can't argue with that!).  Second- wedding jewelry.  Last- who is going to plan the wedding?

Where are you getting married, Harriet?

Yes, you are. Do we need a wedding planner?! We haven't decided on the venue. Initially, it was going to be at the NY City Hall followed by a good meal (it's just for immediate family). But, I've been thinking that it'd be nice to have a small ceremony in Miami Beach. We love it there.

Well, top priority is setting the location. You've got two options--which do you (both) lean toward? Which is more 'you'?

It's good that you're planning for a very small affair, you might pull your hair out trying to do anything bigger in such a small amount of time!

We like both, but I'm not sure I want to deal with family in a closed resort setting. Yup, and we'll be moving next week too.

Hi Harleigh! We haven't "spoken" in a while. Thanks for the warm welcome. What do you have left to do? I need to draw up a checklist of sorts, right?

HARRIET AKA my favorite engagement ring!! hahaha I'm not engaged so there is still hope to get a Leon masterpiece like yours one day

HI! how are you? Where do you live now and where are you moving to?

Is a destination wedding what you have your heart set on or would you think about something in the city still?

Harriet, I have missed you, and am glad you are here with us planning your big day!

Hee, hee...what DON'T we have left to do???

Let's see, dinner reception after Maui wedding, welcome dinner the night before the wedding and the wedding reception back here at home in August...not much is getting done for any of those!

Still need to figure out flowers, gifts for the GM and matching earrings to go with the copies of the DBTY necklace and bracelet sets I ordered for my girls.

Ohh yeah, THE dress won't be here until the 3rd week of June...I leave for Maui on July 17th...I'm looking for a nice white bikini as a back-up plan!

Aw. I hope you get what you want.
I'm well. What about you? Do you live in NY too? We're just moving 2 blocks away, but we hate moving and are terrible with unpacking (which is why there are still boxes in our current place). Also, we're not very patient decorators (read: we leave things unfinished).
I'm open as to a destination vs. a city wedding since we have a great honeymoon planned. We just happen to like Miami Beach a lot -- close, fun, great weathe, good food, friends.

Yikes! Where in Maui will the wedding be?

Need help on the jewellery hunting fun?

Haha. You should have plenty of time for the dress to arrive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Wow, we're all going to be going crazy soon!

I posted a link on your other thread to my dress, so you'll have to tell me what you think.

I think I may have a few pictures of me in the dress with some of the green amethyst jewelry on, which we went back after I had ordered the dress from Pearl's Place, but my camera's been acting up, so I'll have to see if I can find them.

If the green amethyst doesn't work, I may use the DBTY copies which would be the same as what my girls will be wearing.

Hmmm...maybe I'll go start my own jewelry thread!

Oh dear Harriet!  If I had to choose for myself, I would do the NY city hall affair.  But that's b/c we LOVE this city, and the thought of trying to plan a destination wedding 3 months away gives me the chills.  I mean, if you both LOVE love lovelove Miami Beach, then by all means have it there.  In 10 years, would you rather tell stories about your wedding in Miami Beach or in NYC?  Would you have time to travel to Miami Beach to pick a location and decide on food?

Hi, fellow Manhattannite,

DF is with you because NY is our home, afterall. Picking a location is no problem because we know the place well. But, I'm somewhat concerned that the restaurants are not as good as the ones here.

Hey Harriet! I didn't know you were getting married. Congrats! I'm at 3 months, 1 week and 3 days now, and I'm helping my brother plans his wedding in 6 months, 1 week and two days... So I'll tell you what I told him:

You need to book your ceremony and reception venues as soon as you possibly can. Since you're only thinking about just immediate family for a meal after the ceremony, I guess it won't be as complicated as a typical reception, though! I still recommend making reservations quickly. Also, if you want a photographer, get crackin'! Those book up real fast.

Do you have your dress? If not, At 3 months out, you may not be able to order one... So you might have to buy off the rack.

Good luck!

Born in the city, but live in NJ, minutes to the city, but have always done everything in the city and still do.
Packing is the WORST, I always say "we are doing everything this way and writing everything down so we know what is what" and then...I get so frusterated with it all and throw everything into whatever box it will fit in!!! Unpacking is just as annoying, I have so many boxes sitting in the garage and we moved into this house just over a year ago. I like everything to be clean, neat, and organized, but I think because the boxes are in the garage, I have not tended to them- out of sight, out of mind!
GOOD LUCK with the move!!
If you keep the reception in the city, where are you thinking to have it?

I would do the location and dress next.
Most dresses take 12 weeks to make and even rushed you are running a fairly high risk of not getting it in time, and no time for alterations.  Your best bet is to buy a sample or something from J crew, Ann Taylor, Dillards, Nordstroms, Macys, etc.  They have lots of nice dresses avaliable right away.  If you want a sample, go to kleinfield's, your chances are better there than anywhere else.

As for jewelry, I don't know what you like, but regina B has some nice stuff and I think their B&M store is in NY.

What type of dress are you looking for? Neiman Marcus has a lot of wedding dresses online and Nicole Miller has a nice selection as well, aside from wedding dresses, if you are just looking for a nice dress to wear for the ceremony and small reception, I am sure you will find plenty out there!! Bergdorfs is supossed to have an excellent selection of wedding gowns, I would go there and saks, that is where I plan on going............ONE DAY...............
What time is the ceremony?

I have to admit, this made me feel a little less behind Sorry I still need to do a lot: florist, transportation, hair/makeup, dress fittings, menu, etc. However, the first thing I did was the honeymoon and now it turns out I cannot go (got a new job, that has a very important meeting that week). So, I have to move it a year later I guess to add a new thing to my 3-months away list is finding a hotel for a few nights after the wedding!

GOOD LUCK! You should be able to get most done in a few days of hard work!

At least you have a garage for the boxes. Ours are in a heap in the study.
We're open as to the time of the ceremony. After that, we'll host lunch/dinner at Per Se. So, I don't need a wedding dress per se (oops), but a nice dress that is wedding-like.

That sounds really lovely, have you ever been to Per Se? I have not, but have heard it's great.

What color dress are you thinking? Do you want to do formal or more casual side?

Do you plan on wearing the same dress for ceremony and Per Se?

Hi Harriet-
I love the idea of a NYC City Hall wedding (since are in NYC too; we couldn't imagine not getting married here).  How about trying to get a judge to do it?  And Per Se after!  Fab!  You two could do a mini-moon in Miami (and get re-married).

And not sure why, but I saw this somewhere else and thought of you for your wedding dress:

http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446181573&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492706454&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474399545537&bmUID=1207539801027&ev19=3:3

We're at 4 months til our wedding TODAY and it still feels I have a million things to do...not to mention graduate law school, and prepare & TAKE the bar in July!!!

Re the dress, you could get one made in the time. My wedding is in 3 months and my fabric doesn't arrive till next week!

I so envy you having a small wedding!

(PS: I am exactly the same on the 'unfinished' decorating - we only have one curtain in our sitting room as I haven't made the second one yet!)

I have. Great food, service, ambience, view. I am thinking of something in the white range that is not too formal. May as well.
