I realize only a small percentage of posters will respond to this thread probably, but I was wondering if everyone with an engagement ring would post the exact carat weight of it and specify if it's a diamond or other stone, just to get an idea of the actual average size around here. We talk about it a lot, but as far as I can tell, an actual attempt to get a hard number hasn't happened yet (or at least recently). So, please post your numbers so I can do the math!

If you have a setting with diamonds in it, can you give me your solitaire carat weight and total carat weight separately? I'll do two different averages for those.

Oh--and I am not engaged yet, so there's no stone for me. Hmmm...maybe when the time comes, I will be evil and show this thread to J to say what the average stone size is...

Hi gwen, I'll bite for you!
I have a 3 stone ering but its probably very small by PS standards. I think its total about 70pts - I'm sorry I don't have the breakdown as I lost the original ppwk But the centre one is maybe 10-15pts larger than the side two..?
Sorry I didn't have better info!
Like the idea btw

My original e-ring is a 1.29ct round solitaire. My 10 year ring is a 3 stone, 1.25 (approx, I think it's 1.27 to be exact, almost the exact size of my e-ring, but lower color) with .52 and .54 sapphire side stones. All rounds.

Hi Gwendolyn,

I think there might have been a poll taken about this awhile ago but I'm not positive on that. It's always interesting to see the PS responses and there are a ton of new people so I'll play to keep the thread going! I think the average size here is totally skewed from those IRL though. My ER is in my avatar. The center diamond is a FLY 2.52ct radiant. The ctw of the ring is 3.35.

Gwendolyn, this is a really good question!  It would be a lot easier to see the results if you set it up as a poll asking "What is the weight of the center diamond in your engagement ring?"  And make the choices: less than .5,  .5 to .74,  .75 to .99,  1.0 to 1.24,  1.25 to 1.49,  1.5 to 1.99,  2.0-3.0,  3.0 and up.

Just a thought!

HI:

The poll should be twofold--one for colored stones and one for diamonds.  It might be more representative that way......

Are we including upgraded e-rings? If so, mine is 2ct center, not sure of the ct weight of the melee... 3/4, 3-sided pave... take a guess?

Great idea.  I agree with Sharon you might try a poll to get results easier to track.

My original ering had a .15 solitaire with .06 diamond accents

My current ering has a .53 solitaire with two bezel set diamonds .15 each totalling .83

Hiya, dimondseeker2006! I originally planned on doing a poll, but there are a lot of different types of answers that people will give, including non-diamond stones, total carat weight vs. solitaire carat weight, original e-rings and upgrades, and I didn't want someone to just vote in the poll and not explain what info they were sharing. Also, I'm too finicky and want to have a more exact answer, so I don't want to use ranges. It would make it easier to tally, though, I know! Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi,

My upgraded e-ring is a .82 carat solitaire ( Size 5.5)
My original e-ring is a .28 carat solitaire ( Size 6)

Yes, I played with the carat size numbers (.28 vs .82), on purpose. I'm between size 5.5. and 6. I's hard to find a perfect fit.
Great idea. I'm curious myself.

Any and all information is welcome! That way, if enough people give me info on original e-rings and upgrades, I can do separate figures for those too.

Gwen!!! What a pain! Lol!
Set up the poll... and do a few polls. DO one asking about the average original ering diamond only size. Like DS said above. PEople can then reply with their answer and state the total cts of the ring..
Then do a poll asking if you did upgrade, plan to, or how many cts up you went...
Then do a gemstone vs diamond poll to see how many people had one of the other for the original.

This question comes up a lot, and I was thinking about setting this up myself...
Gwen, you're too sweet! Save yourself the trouble! We love polls anyway then we can see what's what!
