I already have an engagement ring with a 1.4ct princess center stone. The band is a plain thin band and I want it reset.
(Like many others) I fell in love the with the Vera Wang micro pave / basket style engagement ring.

Can anyone make this setting for me (cheaply?) for my center stone? Or point me in the right direction?

Have a blessed day.

How cheap is cheap?

And FYI: Vera Wang stopped manufacturing those rings because they weren't great quality.

Here's a link to Diamondnut's Leon Mege micropave ring (warning, it's DELICIOUS!).  Her ring doesn't have diamonds in the basket, but it does have a teensy micropave band (1.6 mm, I think) and could likely have micropave added to the basket to get the Vera Wang effect and will be better made than the Vera Wang settings.  http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=81001

WHOOPS!  Missed that "minor" detail.

Hmmm, back to the drawing board.  I can't say that cheap and micropave really ever belong in the same sentence.  Even expensive micropave is prone to a lost stone or two over the course of extended wear, but cheaply done micropave would really look oooky if the stones started popping out left, right and center.  I would imagine it would be pretty tricky to achieve this style setting for under $2500 in platinum (likely more).  Neatfreak has a beautiful Ritani Endless Love setting with a micropave shank and basket but again, over $2K for the setting.  I'll see if anything comes to mind...

ETA - Whiteflash has been doing some wonderful custom work lately so I'd definitely check in with them and visit the other links that mrssalvo sent.

If you're not set on platinum, try asking any of those designers how much it would cost in white gold. My inkling however is that because most of the cost is labor, you won't be able to find anything under $2000. My platinum pave (only on band) from Leon is going to cost between $2500-$2700 just to give you an idea. The ritani endless love (no halo) in platinum was roughly the same price; and in white gold was only about $300 less.
