The new concave topaz for my pendant is finally in! I'm on my way to the jeweler's to inspect the stone. Hopefully pics to follow later this afternoon!

Last one - this pic is kinda blurry, but it captures the bright blue so well (this is such a dreary day, the pics aren't doing the color justice!). Thanks for looking!! :)

Thanks Selkie and Love in Bloom! My jeweler had just received a buuunch of concaves - several peridots and citrines, a GORGEOUS amethyst ring, and a HUGE oval yellow quartz that just looked like a star exploding. I told DH I wanted a peridot and a citrine - one is the color of our kitty's eyes (Morty, the one in the pic) and the other is the color of his brother Elmo's fur :) I think this is my new addiction :)

Yay!! You finally got it in!!You're about to make me into a concave convert! It's gorgeous.

Swiss blue? I love the color!!!

(I still haven't done anything to make any headway with the silver topaz...no estimates, nothing...)

LIB, yes, isn't he a natural? Haha. I think he looks kinda irritated, actually. Around that point, he was trying to attack the camera strap, so I had to snap quickly!

Thanks, FlyGirl! I've been meaning to ask you - in your old av, was that your cub (it was a cub, right??)? I grew up with an airshow performer in the fam and around planes, but it's been sooo long since I've been in anything non-commercial. I think it's pretty awesome when women fly, since it's such a male dominated hobby!!

Freke, yupp, it's a swiss blue! If I make you a concave convert, then I will consider it a job well done on my part, haha. Of course I'm patiently waiting for your topaz project, but know that you have so much more on your plate than to be bothering with it - it will be beautiful when the time is right!!

Elmorton, it's just gorgeous.  I have a soft spot for blue topaz ( don't know why, I just do, and always have), and I absolutely love concave cuts and bt's.  So happy for you, the pendant is stunning.  Congrats!

Thanks MZ, Monarch, and Bling Addict! It's funny, I had actually wanted blue zircon at the top of my colored stones wishlist and desperately wanted a concave cut, so it was the color and affordability of the blue topaz that made this project happen instead. I don't regret the choice for a minute - the topaz is quite the performer! I'd be super pumped if my little pendant made some more people into concave converts!! I literally sat at my desk and gasped the first time I saw them here...yay for PS! :)

That Cub isn't mine.  Just a nifty photo that I found on-line.  I belong to a flying club with a fleet of four airplanes.  There's me and 42 men.

I wish more women did fly.  It is an awesome sport.  Maybe you can take flying lessons someday.

El, all I can say is WOW. Seriously, I just keep looking at that stone and going, wow. lol It is stunning. The cut, the color, the size, perfect. I am SO jealous, and I rarely get jealous! (in a good way of course)

I'm so glad this turned out so well, considering. Now wear that dazzler in good health!

Flygirl, I think my dad always hoped I'd get interested in planes but when I got older but he gave up our plane (a little piper cherokee) for health reasons a few years before I could start taking lessons. He did get my mom to take lessons though - and she did everything but solo. I'm actually a really nervous flyer - when I was little, you know, dads are invincible, so I felt 100% comfortable when I knew who was operating the plane, but it's not something I think I'd ever take up on my own. STILL - I have a lot of respect for women who do!!

Violet, Skippy, and Ellen, thanks so much!! After I read your posts, I was telling DH how cool it is to receive compliments on PS - when you love others' pieces and their taste in stones it means so much to hear back that you did a good job finding something of your own ;)

Akmiss, this stone actually came from a cutter that my local jeweler uses for concave cuts (I don't know who that is, actually, but I think he or she might be somewhat local?). My original stone that was 100% identical to this one (there were some problems with setting and the jeweler broke the stone) came from Rick at artcutgems.com - he's wonderful to work with and I'd highly recommend him for business. AND, unless it's sold, he has my stone's twin - a 9mm concave blue topaz that's currently in a ring. He might still have a couple other concaves left - he had a gorgeous citrine and a beautiful peridot (I thought I saw that one sold, but I don't remember which). And, of course there's the master of concave cuts, Richard Homer - Wink can find you his stones, and you can see a bunch of them at concavegems.com.
