I would really like to ensure a ring that i've got, but don't have a homeowners/tenant policy to add a separate rider onto.

I've contacted a number of places and they all say that I have to have house insurance first in order to insure my ring - ie: it has to be under an umbrella policy.

I've called a Chubb agent up here and she spoke to her underwriter - apprarently they do have a separate policy for 'personal effects' but will only be able to give me a policy if my existing house insurance is with them.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Please help as I'm running out of solutions...

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't really be of much help. (not Canadian and all...) But have you tried calling Chubb directly? From what I've heard here in the US individual agents won't insure the ring without you having another policy through them, but calling Chubb direct they will.

I'm canadian too.

Chubb can write you a policy for your e-ring only.

I did it and it worked for me.

Now, you will need to find an agent in Canada in your city
WILLING to write you a policy and this will be pretty difficult to find
(I called at least 15 of them to give you an idea).

Contacting Chubb Canada directly won't help you either since they
will refer you to their agents.

Hope this helps,

Trichome.
