Possible Weekend In Boston

diamondgirl5k Cut Rock Total Posts: 125 Last Post: 10/9/2009 Member Since: 11/23/2007	Hi everyone, I was planning on doing a weekend trip to Boston in a few weeks, and wanted to know what are the sites I should check out, where are good hotels to stay, and restaurants. I've never been there, so I'd like to do as much as possible in the two or three days that I'm there. Thanks for your help!! ~~C

I'm thinking you are looking for the more insider information. I took a tour (gulp) I know some bostonians are going to be tsk, tsking that. Enjoy your trip!

I've been on the duck boat tours a few times now (when family/friends visit) and I live here, haha. I love the duck boat tours! In terms of things to see, I'd definitely check out the sites along the freedom trail--touristy, yes, but still interesting. Also, spend some time in Cambridge, I love it over there. In terms of food, I'd highly recommend Mama Maria's in the North End (with a stop in a pastry shop afterward). I love Mike's Pastries, but I've heard there are better in the area. If you can, I'd rent a car and try to get outside the city for a day--maybe a nice trip to the cape. I feel that captures the New England vibe more than just the city. I'm running into a meeting, but will think about it some more and get back. ETA: For seafood, I love Union Oyster House! Legal Seafoods is ubiquitous here and is good, but Union Oyster House is fantastic!

mercoledi Ideal Rock Total Posts: 2,667 Last Post: 10/5/2009 Member Since: 6/20/2006	I actually like the tours too, the trolley tour is great (you can get on and off as you please) especially when the weather is crap (like today) and the duck tour is fun. My other favorite hokey thing to do is to go up to the Top of the Hub and have a drink. It's the restaurant/bar at the top of the Prudential center. You can pay to go up to the SkyWalk, or you can just buy a drink a floor below and wander around. The drinks don't cost any more than anywhere else and the staff is usually nice. If you walk back toward where the private dining rooms and bathrooms are you get a nice view of Fenway park. What sort of restaurants are you looking for? Best of the best? Local favorites? Thai? French? Fish? Italian? Wine? Beer? Fancy cocktails? If you're into historical stuff and get nice weather, try walking the freedom trail from Park Street to the north end. It goes beyond the north end, but it's more fun to stop there for dinner! My favorites are Artu and Bella Vista, but Momma Maria's is an institution. There are gobs of museums- what are you into?

I really like to do anything, maybe we can go see a baseball game. Is the prudential center a mall? Also, are there any nice hotels that are relatively cheap?
