I think that first I should introduced myself. I've been lurking for almost 6 months and getting a lot of ideas and education from all of you. I'm glad I found this site and it was helped me tremendously on my search. After much debate between a diamond, an aqua and a sapphire, I decided to purchase a sapphire from Jeff White. Netfreak's sapphire was my inspiration, her stone is unbelievable beautiful.
Me and my fiance got engaged last November. He proposed to me with a temporary ring and we agreed that I would get my dream ring before the wedding and then i'll keep wearing the ring he proposed with as a RHR. At the beginning of february I placed an order with Jeff White and he said it would take about 2 months, which means that in a couple of weeks (hopefully sooner than later) I'll be receiving my stone. I have yet commit to any ring design. I have very tiny hands, my ring size is 4 3/4. I'm getting an asscher cut light blue sapphire, approximately 1.5 ct.

I have a vague idea of what I want but I keep going back and forth. I know i want something dainty and thin, no more than 2mm, I want something that would accentuate the stone, the cut and the brilliance. I'm leaning towards a 3/4 eternity band, but i would like your opinions and suggestions.

This was my first choice, but now i'm afraid that the diamonds will compete instead of accentuate http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/Diamonds-for-an-Eternity--3-4-_1070.htm

This is another choice, but then I don't know if it'll be brilliant enough to WOW me
http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/Three-Row-Domed-Micro-Pave-Engagement-Ring_1195.htm

What do you all think? Thank you in advance

I love option 2, it will enhance the ring but it won't compete with the sapphire. I too think that the shared eternity could compete, esp since the asscher cut is less sparkly than other cuts. The pave will offer a nice shimmer and its blazing white will offer a great contrast to the blue of the sapphire. Plus, WF has a matching wedding band for the three-sides pave that is to die for! Check it out: 2mm with 142 diamonds in the pave!

PLease post pics when you get it! I want a Jeff White sapphire so badly, but decided to get a diamond first...

I like #2 as well.
I also think this one would be beautiful with a sapphire.

Ditto! I was just about to say that the Legato and Harmony are my two favorites!

However, if this stone is an asscher and about 1.5 carats, it is probably going to look like a 1 ct. diamond or smaller.  So I think I would set it in a halo.

Hi S Emeral!

From the two you posted, I really liked the three sided micropave from WF, but the second one on this list above is absolutely beautiful too!  It's shown with an asscher and would be stunning with a blue stone in it -- you might not need the extra finger coverage with such little fingers, but it would probably make the whole ring look a little larger.  Do you like halos?  if so, this one's very pretty!

i'll attach it...

I was actually going to suggest the Beverly K settings as well.. I think they give quite a lot and my stars, they are so beautifully made.

I think the Legato is eternity-is that right?

The Harmony is 3/4.

DS,
ditto on those gorgeous Beverly Ks!!

There is a very small area at the bottom that does not have pave.  It's maybe 5mm or so.  Ask WF, they can tell you exactly how big the area is.  This would be awesome with a sapphire.

Check out this thread. There are photos of asscher setting. Some very antique looking which may or may not be your taste.

Thank you all for your responses. You guys are extremely helpful. I'm really not a fan of halo myself, I think they look beautiful but not on me. All your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm so flattered that you love my stone! I love it too. It still makes my heart go pitter patter!

As for the halo, I would say a big no. It blocks light and you then can't see the steps nearly as clearly. When I got mine set, we dropped my stone into a few halo settings and it made the stone look a shade darker, which isn't good for this cut.

My vote would be for the second one that you posted! I think it would look gorgeous. My wedding ring is three sided pave that I wear with my baguette set asscher and I think it compliments the asscher but doesn't take away from it.

Can't wait to see it!

Hi Again S_Emeral!

While i was wandering around online, i found these pics....looks a lot like option #2 you mentioned above (the three sided micropave from WF) with an asscher cut sapphire on it!  I know it's not as light as the beautiful stone neatfreak has, but it should give you an idea of what the band looks like with a sapphire stone.  I think the contrast is gorgeous, so my vote sticks with #2, and i think it's got a lot of bling!  See pics Below - cheers!
