I have another thread on the same topic, but it seemed to cause more confusion than anything else.

Date: 3/30/2008 9:28:36 AM Author:clivus I have another thread on the same topic, but it seemed to cause more confusion than anything else. My guess is that it is no longer a modified stock piece, but a custom job, simply because going from rounds to emerald cuts would mean big changes in the shape of the baskets holding the stones. Also I don't really know much about pricing on EC's but there is a significant jump in carat weight and a jump in color AND clarity for the sides - .5 to 1.2. Just my best guess! sounds like it will be delish though! a

you're really paying for those sidestones. plenty of people have .7 emerald cuts as the center of their er, you have two just as the sidestones. that ads up to a pretty penny when they are high quality as i'm sure yours will be. as far as the setting, going custom and platinum is just plain expensive. the total cost just for the setting is probably close to 3,000 which isn't crazy either. i was recently quoted a similar price elsewhere for a custom plat three stone setting.

seems reasonable to me. the platinum/mounting alone could be $3000. Then the cost of the side stones...............

i already said it in your other thread but yes, the price seems reasonable for the increase in the sides as well as the modifications necessary. my guess is it's the sides that are really addig onto your price.
