For those of you who missed the saga OCD Dress Thread, I'm eloping (even though everyone knows) on June 5th so I needed a dress fast. I had tried on this dress Casablanca Fluting earlier in the week, but at 950, it seemed more than I should spend for an elopement dress. I went back on Thursday evening, tried it again and without even trying to negotiate the price, the owner told me not to worry about the alterations and told me she would sell it to me for $700 because she needed the room and just started an inventory sale in the newspaper. OK!! I knew I could get it for around 650 on-line, plus expedite charges, plus alteration charges, plus worry time for me!!! So, all in all, a lot more than I wanted to spend, but it is a gorgeous dress and we are going to make some substantial changes to the top.

I love this Mon Cheri dress: Mon Cheri dress

We are definitely adding sleeves to my dress, which will be the fluting type fabric, facing downward, with a shorter lace overlay, and we may copy the top of the Mon Cheri dress, but I have not entirely thought it through yet.

Sooooooooooooo, what about the mantilla, can I still wear one? Or, is it too much lace? Do I have to wear a sheer veil with no lace? Seriously, I have even started thinking of a birdcage veil, in the past few days? I am the least decisive girl ever!!!!! You are all so lucky to have me!!!

On a totally separate note, I've noticed a few people have posted individual bride's blogs from the knot, but I cannot find that section of the knot myself? Must start scouring for hair and flowers. Can anyone direct me, please.

Thanks for all of your help everyone!! I don't know what I would have done without all of your help and support!!

YAY! A DEAL on the dress!! I would have her knock it down another 100. If she offered 700 with no haggling, there's still room. Unless she's INCLUDING the alterations in the 700  cost. In which case I'd say it's a good deal.

I think you need to try on the dress with a Mantilla before anyone comments. I PERSONALLY would say probably not, and recommend a catherdral plain veil with a cut edge. But that's without having seen the dress with a Mantilla.

Hi Gypsy! That is including the alterations!! Considering another seamstress told me it would be $300 for a hem on the other dress, I just couldn't ask her to take any more $ off. And, trust me, I always ask for less, to the point where salespeople are sometimes taken aback by what I ask for. I do it because I want them to know that I'm not messing around and I will get what I want, eventually, and I usually do. But, this woman, has been running her own dress shop, tiny little dress shop, for 19 years, she has no sales associates, she can be very sweet, and I just could not ask for more from her because really, no cost for the alterations that I want and I don't have to wait for or worry about shipping -- I already have everything that I want. Plus, the dress is really gorgeous on me. Very sweet and romantic and white, white. I love it.

Dress saga over.

Now, on to the flowers.

Congrats on getting that beautiful dress! That's a great deal, esp. with alterations. As a strictly non-veil former bride, I'm afraid I have nothing to say about the mantilla question, just wanted to pop in and say I'm glad it turned out well for yoiu!

Thank you, Selkie!  I have always wanted the mantilla, but I've decided that I am going to let the dress be my guide, make my life a lot easier and take Gypsy's advice and go with the cathedral length straight edged veil!!  Now, I just need to find the perfect one in a high quality fabric!  This is so much fun!!!
