Question one: Is anyone using a calligrapher for invites, etc.? If so, how much did they cost? I know it probably depends on the area, but I wanted to know if this was in my budget.

Question two: Does anyone know anything about Rose-Bud studios? They look awesome! I would like to know prices, etc. I left a message on their voicemail, but thought I would ask here in the meantime. Rosebud

My mother is a calligrapher so she's doing our invitations as a gift. In Chicago, people pay between $4 and $10 an invite for hand calligraphy.

Wow that is awesome! Hmm. I wonder if I could talk my Mom into learning how. Her handwriting is 10x better than mine, mine is so horrible.

If you are just having the addresses done, it shouldn't be anywhere near $4-7 per invite!! From what I looked at, it runs from 70 cents for just recipient's address to $1-4 for calligraphy on all the envelopes (return address, recipient's address, inner envelope, RSVP address). If you want them to actually write out the invite, it would be much more.

Ohh I see. Well, I would just want the envelope. Looks like we're looking at an extra 400-700 dollars at least I think... Maybe we can cut money somewhere else?

There are also services that will use a fancy calligraphic font and do computer-printing. Some of these turn out awesome and you couldn't tell it wasn't hand done. Others are so-so. Don't know what the price difference is. Don't forget that you won't have the same number of invites as guests! It will be a lot fewer! We're inviting 150 people but only anticipate sending out around 80 invites.

I keep forgetting that!! Thank you for reminding me! Haha. Okay, so then it isn't as bad as I was thinking. We are inviting about 120 so it'd probably be like 60-70 invites total I think.
