Hi all ! I bought (or won, in e-bay lingo says) a 40 pts HVVS Princess VGC cut online for a little under 300 delivered . I'm a little anxious on quality, although it is from a bonded seller with good ratings and everything (the feedback were fine for all VS and up stones. There were a handfull of complaints for Si2 and down). I cross-checked with pricescope, and the quality of an IVS2 (I heard somewhere that sellers can advertise one colour and clarity up ????) of the same size is over 400. Do you think it was a good price. If I won it for such a low price (??), could the seller replace the stone for a similar (but lower quality) one ??? Anyone experienced in e-bay an this online thing ??? Thanks

I would be very wary about getting exciting over this one! Unfortunately, there are tons of threads about ebay horror stories, people ending up with stones that are not what they were expecting.  It's usually the case of if it's too good to be true, then it probably is!

I would however, see if you can get it independently appraised and if it turns out to be a bit off, organise a refund asap.  Here's hoping though that you are one of the lucky ones that has scored a bargain!  Good luck!

Hi ! I hope so too. I mean... it's not a big stone. Hopefully it would at least be an IVS (that even at B&M vendiors quoted 450's). That's not too far off, is it ?!

I bought some little 15-20 pts last time for settings from another seller (who had 100% feedback ratings, and trust me, I read all of them). The items did arrive and where he stated Si-I for a pair, then it would be 1 Si and one I. The colour was qonderful, though. Even the J's faced up white (even next to an F). So I think it was worth it. There was one that was alsmot VS, with a tiny chip that can be pronged on the girdle, so that was good.

Just hoping this one will have a happy ending too..... Will post the princess once it arrives.

I recently won a beautiul little pear-shaped 0.33ct J VS2 diamond eBay for next to nothing.. and it turned out to be lovely!

I only bid for a bit of fun, and figured I could sell it if it wasn't pretty, but I was delighted - so I suppose you *can* get pretty diamonds on eBay for good prices (although I wouldn't be buying an e-ring stone on there! LOL!).

My advice would be that if the stone turns up and you like it, then just go right ahead and enjoy it. :) If not, return it if possible.

If you can't return it, just sell it loose, or have it set into a simple setting & try and make a bit of money selling it as a finished ring or pendant.

You always get eBay horror stories, but most vendors are happy to refund you if you aren't happy.

Yep, it's here.... and yes, it's one grade off for colour (not an H but an I). I'm not sure about clarity. Could be VS2 ?? See the little "bubble" near the middle (upper left) ??

But look !!! It's soooo pretty !!! Totally can't see a thing without the loupe. Even with it, it was hard (or is it just me ??). Got that one from a pretty strong lense (originally only 4.1mmx4.14mm).

And it's a reasonable price too, is it not ???? I got it 270 shipped. What do you think ???? Am I a fool ?

Couldn't resist to buy this one from the same seller . They said 36 pts H/IVS2. I think it's a J (compared to my real H). But it's only 180..... If I set it in yellow gold, none will be the wiser.... Unless you're risking a black-eye by peering at my fingers so close....

I could get too used to this.... Danger !!! Danger !!

hi princess, I think the princess stone looks nice although i admit I don't know much about them. I will say that the round that you posted, at least from that pic, looks a bit of a strange cut. But i guess for $180 that may be what you were expecting? Anyway, as long as you're happy and enjoy ur stones!

ETA: I also wanted to add, looking again at the princess cut pic, I really doubt its VS clairty - maybe si2 ? Its up to you, but personally I may be a bit upset if both the colour and clarity grades were off..?

Hi ! Really ??? How oddly cut is it (not just the way I took the picture ??) ?? Well... shows how little I know about them. Hehehe... *sheepish laugh*

I love them, though.... Especially the princess. I had my eye on a princess for years now (my first love was over $4,200 for 75pts set in 18K WG).  I guess this is what I need to stop meself from getting really obsessed with e-bay blings. Hahahhaa... Thanks !! You saved me from being scolded at by buying more blings and stare at the computer screen all day long. Hahahahahha.....

Ordering a simple YG setting for each one of them now, will post again once they are finished. Thanks again....
