So, I head a thread a little while back about jewelry to go with my dress, and the eventual consensus seemed to be to skip the necklace and find some great earrings. Unfortunately, whiteflash diamond beauties are out of my budget, sooooo what do you guys think of these?
Earrings

I'm not a big fan of chandelier earrings (on me), but I think a shorter drop would look really nice. Do you think something like these would be enough to go w/ my dress sans necklace? Thanks!!

I really, really like those! They are gorgeous and have such a vintage, femine feel. I think they would be perfect! I'm with you in that I can't really wear chandelier earrings, and I love simple drops like these. They are soooo pretty and I think it would look great with your dress!

They're beautiful! I think they'd look great with your dress, and hey if you don't like them QVC has a great return policy (as long as you don't return too often ).

If those don't work then these are similar, but the drop might be too long. Nadri Earrings

They are beautiful, and I think would be plenty with the detail on your dress and no necklace. Great find!!

Those are stunning!  Definitely enough going on in those earrings to go without a necklace.

They're beautiful. I'd get the matching pendant too as I think it would go with your dress very well, and is understated and elegant. I'd try the pendant on with a simple chain the earrings and the dress. Then decide if I want to go with just the earrings or the set. QVC's return policy is so good, I think it's worth getting both, deciding on a look and then returning anything that doesn't work.

Thanks ladies! I went ahead and ordered them - expected delivery is the 4th. Gypsy, I looked but I didn't see a matching pendant. There are some close ones, but one is mint quartz and the other is HUGE! Did I miss it??

Nope. Pain killers were to blame. I thought THIS matched. Sorry. I do like the mint pendant though. Too bad it's mint. Are you having GREEN in your colors perhaps? LOL.

SORRY. I'm admittedly loopy.

Heehee, no harm no foul! Yes, the green pendant IS pretty. Sadly, the only green in the wedding is in floral greenery. I remember seeing a lot of briolettes at Macy's - maybe once the earrings get here I'll go back and see if anything would match.

the earrings are gorgeous.  I'm glad you ordered them.  however, I do think you can still also have a necklace (but hey, who am I to spend your money?).  just try them on when you get them and then you can decide if you still need a necklace or not.

So, the earrings came today! I think I like the style, and my MOH and I agree they match the dress well. However, I'm not wowed by the earrings themselves. I knew better than to expect much, but the "diamonds", aka invisible chips, might as well not be there. In fact, the silver would probably shine more w/o them there. The quartz is pretty, but it doesn't so much sparkle as reflect light off the outside of the facets here and there. I guess I just don't love them enough for what I paid ($110 after tax and shipping). Sooo, for now I guess I'm keeping them, but I want to look some more and see what else I can find. Any leads on similar earrings with better bang/sparkle for the buck?

Sorry - I agree.  The earrings looked good on paper (ie. on the website) but seem to be lacking IRL.

I think:  The length of the drop is too short for you; it needs to be twice the length of those drops to be stand alone jewellery.  I really feel you should get a necklace and studs.  I feel from dress up you would look very bare without a necklace....

I know budget must be a concern but I am thinking WF DBTY and studs.... if you agree I could go virtual shopping and see if anybody does a cheaper copy than WF?

What do you think?

Oh, how I wish that was in my budget, but I think the only way I'm getting something like WF's DBTY is if I were to request it be my wedding gift from FI. I know he has an idea already for what he wants to give me, besides the fact that he really wouldn't appreciate my asking for something. He's more the romantic type who wants to surprise me. Now, for all I know he's planning a necklace. Every necklace I've shown him he's found a reason to dislike, usually saying "I think what you have at home is nicer/better than that" referring the pendant he gave me for my birthday a couple years ago. I have to remind him that as much as I love my pendant, it doesn't work with my dress (which he hasn't seen). He's also made comments about why would I want "fake" jewelry, meaning not gold and gemstones/diamonds. HOWEVER, he liked these earrings, and has had no qualms about other earrings I've pointed out to him as possible wedding earrings (fake and not) other than his usual tastes (he likes classic, not overly blingy). Soooo a little voice in my head is saying maybe he wants to buy me a necklace for the wedding, and he's trying to steer me clear of buying something on my own? I can't be sure.

Anyway, my suspicions aren't going to stop me from buying something more reasonable in cost if it's pretty and works with my dress, because another voice in my head says I'm just wishful thinking.

Do you think longer drops of a similar style to the ones I tried could work on their own? Or would you still think necklace?

Yes I imagine longer earrings would work well on their own....you are very pretty and would be able to carry off chandelier earring if you wanted to....

If it were me I would go for a snug necklace and studs. Do you have a budget?

I see what you are saying about your FI's wedding gift; it sounds like he may have a necklace up his sleeve- how lovely (and frustrating)

I've been looking for you hon. I was thinking you could just keep the earrings as I think they'd work well if you had a pendant around your neck.

Haven't found anything that's struck me as being right for you, especially as I know you have the 'must be real' restriction. One question... are crystals, like swarovski's considered "real" or "fake" by your mom?

IF crystals ar a consideration. I love these Gillain's. Both the earrings and necklace.

Or this set:

http://www.swarovski.com/product/Ivory+Pendant/Web_US/en?CategoryName=0104041&ProductPage=0

Since your dress is CRYSTAL, not diamond studded, I'm going to argue that these are 'real'. LOL.

Honestly though, the swarovski brand crystal jewelry with the rhodium plating is some of the nicer stuff out there. It is so bright and firey. I have one peice by them, a two tone pendant with gold and rhodium plating, I wear on an 18K YG chain that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE thinks is diamond pave. It's a fun necklace, a puffy flower, but it feels and looks really high end.

So if your open to it. I would look into the swarovski stuff.

They are gorgeous! If you like something simpler but with some sparkle and elegance, I think those are great. How is the length on you? I have issues wearing earrings that are too long, they drag my face down visually.

Haha, Gypsy, I think my mom has gotten over the fake vs real, thing (thank goodness). She was fine w/ the possibility of the crystal necklace (in my previous jewelry thread). I do like both of those sets you posted. I think for my own tastes, I tend to prefer diamond cut/set crystal over crystal beads, and I prefer round/pear/marquise to princess/baguette (seems to match the dress better). A Swarovski store opened recently at our mall - I'll have to go check them out.

ladyciel -

I got all of my bridal jewelry and my BM jewelry sets from www.looneymaiden.com.  She has quite a few swarovski crystal and swarovski pearl color choices, and offers free shipping!

If you are still looking at chandelier earrings, here are a few that caught my eye:

Oh yeah, you can also pick your ear wires (lever backs, shepard hooks, etc.)....I hope I gave you some ideas!

Not sure on your budget, but these are real...

Lauren Klein White Gold, White Topaz and Diamonds

Lauren Klein Prong-set Diamond Teardrop Dangles

I found Overstock Jeweler with designer inspired fakes... they sure look pretty online- just not sure on the quality as I have never ordered from them. I think I'm going to try something from them. Has anyone ordered from them before?

Here are some ideas...

Tiffany-inspired Diamond by the Inch. Subtle and pretty.

Tiffany-inspired Teardrop Twist. I like the twists that kinda go with the ruching and sparkles that almost flows to the left side of the dress.

Harry Winston-inspired Long Teardrop Chandeliers. Very pretty and somewhat narrow, so they aren't the really big chandeliers that you seem to not want.

Bulgari-inspired Pave Twist. LOVE these.

Fred Leighton-inspired Chandeliers. More typical chandeliers just to throw into the mix.

Tiffany-inspired Rose Dangles and matching pendant. I thought these were soooo pretty I had to include them!

Ooooooo sera that first pair of Laura Klein's are GORGEOUS.

ladyciel, how about these from carolee (2", crystal, $55)?  Also, would you be interested in crystal/pearl combos?  There are some pretty ones on the carolee website.

Laura Klein has a lot of really pretty things! I'm keeping the site in mind as I want aquamarine (or blue topaz) for my jewelry.

I love the earrings you posted, very pretty.

Aaaaaaaah sera!  I love you and hate you all at the same time!  I'm just drooling over some of those LK earrings.  They're totally not in my budget because I was planning to buy $50 "fakies" but now I'm like, "well, I don't want fakies anymore!"

Ladyceil-  I really like those earings with the gown.   I think it looks lovely!  I say keep the earings and try to find a necklace to compliment!

Guess what, Gypsy? I showed FI the Gillian earrings and he liked them. THEN, I said "look, they have a matching necklace" and showed it to him. "NO...I don't like the two hanging ball things...it looks tacky." So, once again, he hates necklaces. I really can't figure out if this is because his pride is being hurt (comparing everything to the pendant he gave me for my birthday) or if he has a necklace idea up his sleeve for a wedding gift. Either way, frustrating when I'm trying to figure out my jewelry.

Laura, the looney maiden stuff is really pretty, but not really to my taste. Can't put my finger on it other than to say I usually don't like "lots and lots of crystal beads". That's awesome that you can choose your ear wires.

Sera, unfortunately I would really like to stay under 200 for jewelry, total. Lauren Klein sure does have some gorgeous stuff, though... As for overstock jeweler, I'd really like to know if anyone has had experience with them. The prices seem too good to be true, KWIM? Lots of great ideas there, though, and with the prices might be worth a shot just to see what the quality is like. The diamonds by the inch are very me, I think, and those harry winston ones are yummy. Thanks for finding them!

CrownJewel, those ones from carolee are really pretty - lots of sparkle! I think I'd have to try them on though, to see the shape. For some reason a lot of earrings built like that just look funny on me.

ROFLMAO.

NO, not two hanging balls! Tacky.

I absolutely cannot see what is tacky about that, but I suppose it has something to with being a guy.

Okay, so the hunt is still on. I'll see if I find anything else for you hon.

Guys are weird. Sometimes I'm amazed at what my FI does or doesn't like.... and the reasons why.

Well, I'll keep my eye out for < $200 earrings, sans dual hanging balls.

I hope if anyone has bought from them they'll post on this thread. I may just buy a little trinket to test them out. If I do, I'll post about it.

Men NOT liking balls? JK.

I agree that the quirks of men and why they do or do not like something never ceases to amaze or annoy me. I have to tell hubby why it is great (see, cuz he is a little daft and does not get it, he NEEDS me to tell him what is what!!)
