The Vatche double x-prong setting:

----

I'm considering this setting (cushion) but I want double prongs (safety).  Now, it's called double prong, but isn't this just a larger prong with a little *V* thing at the end to make it look double?

Thanks.

those are split prongs. it's not going to make your diamond any safer, but they are pretty

Thanks Ms. S.

Now,  being that it has the basket, should I feel safe with just 4 prongs?  Does the basket make it more secure?

Tx.

Honestly, double prongs aren't really any safer. I agree with Mrs. S. Usually they are half the size of regular prongs, so it is really the same.

As for the setting, don't worry. The most important thing is to have it set properly and to have the prongs checked regularly. As long as you do that almost all settings are safe.

Double prongs can be anything from what you showed, to what Leon does, which looks more like two separate claw prongs on the actual top of the stone. Different styles...
